I do now know how many times I have covered this topics— may be half a dozen times, or may be more! We often try to avoid repetitive topics on the site but sometimes we can’t help writing about them again and again, and the only reason to do this is the popularity of the apps and widgets from Sony’s Xperia devices among those who do not own them.
The latest phablet devices from Sony, namely Xperia Z Ultra and Honami i1, feature improved versions of the Xperia Home launcher and multi-media apps like Album, Movies and Walkman. Due to their rich experience, these apps always make people pine to get them on their devices and since it is the world of Android, such wishes are often fulfilled. It was just a week ago that we shared the launcher app and widgets from the Xperia Honami i1/ Z Ultra ported by ThilinaC for non-Xperia devices with Android 4.2.2.
Many of us with Android 4.2.2 installed the newly ported launcher but somewhere in our mind we kept feeling a void that demanded the most lovable media apps from the new devices from Sony. Finally, as we all expected, the wait is over with a wider reach. Rizal Lovins, who has earned a good name for porting the media apps from Xperia devices in the past, has now come with another masterly stroke.
The all new Album, Movies and Walkman apps from Sony Xperia Z Ultra/Honami i1 can now be enjoyed by all Android users who have any version Android Jelly Bean on their device. I have already been using these apps on my HTC One (on Android 4.2.2) and Galaxy S3 (Android 4.1.2) for a couple of days now and they are running perfectly.
The Album and Movies apps are just amazing in themselves. However, the Walkman apps with Clear Audio, Xloud, music animations and powerful equalizer, outputs stunning audio quality.
How to Install:
- Download the ZIP files from above and copy to your device.
- Turn off your phone and boot it into CWM/TWRP recovery mode.
- Important: We highly recommend that you backup your current ROM as precaution before proceeding. In case the media apps do not work for you or you wish to uninstall them later, restore the previous ROM from recovery.
- Go to “mounts and storage” and select “mount system”.
- Return back to main menu in recovery and install the “V.2_SONY_Xperia_i1_Honami_Media_Apps.zip” file.
- Go back to menu in CWM/TWRP recovery and reboot the phone.
- When the devices boots up, turn it off again and enter the recovery mode.
- Go to “mounts and storage” and select “mount system”.
- Now install the “WALKMAN_SemcMusic_Xperia i1 Honami_Z Ultra.zip” file.
- Reboot the device.
- In case your phone is on Android 4.1.2, also install “SemcDlna_Fix_Only_For_JB-4.1.2-signed.zip” and then reboot the device. Before installing this file, do not forget to mount system as you did above.
Note:
In case you get force close error after installing the Xperia Honami media apps, restore your previous ROM and try this:

hi rakesh, i flashed it a week ago, and i lose BE 2 on album/movies. My device is Xperia SP. but after flashed, this mod works perfectly on my phone then suddenly i lose BE2. Any solution? maybe build.prop problem? it’s written ro.service.swiqi3.supported=true and persist.service.swiqi3.enable=1
Yes, it appears to be a build.prop issue.
Hi Rakesh, I installed Omega ROM v9 on my S4 I9505. But when I install the mod for the media app the error “The process android.process.media has stopped” still appears any idea how this can be fixed?
Yes, it is the same.
Hi, do you know when Android 4.3 for the GT-I9500 is coming out?
I have heard of its arrival in September.
Ok, thanks
Can’t install… In cwm it says.. Installation aborted (bad) any ideas?
The zip is corrupted, redownload and try again.
Downloaded 3 times.. Same error 🙁
Then leave it for now.
Hi Rakesh, encountered these error messages after installing the sony media apps file.. “The process android.process.media has stopped” and “The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped”.. Please advice..
I guess, you device has an AOSP or CM based ROM. If you are able to use the media apps, flash the Gapps again or reinstall the app that gives you error:

I’m using S4’s stock rom.. Is the rom causing the issue? You mentioned that its working fine on your s4 what rom are you using?
I am on Omega. Try clearing app data and cache from Application manager.
I am also facing with this error message after installing the sony media apps file. “The process android.process.media has stopped” is appeared when booting up to the home screen. My phone is Galaxy S2 with stock rom version 4.1.2.
Looks like this won’t work on s4’s stock rom.. Tried installing several times and the error I mentioned above always pop up..
