Xiaomi launched the latest smartphone in the Xiaomi Mi A series which was also a new lineup of smartphones from the company and it was named as the Mi A1. Now, this smartphone was also the first smartphone to be launched by the company that comes with Stock Android instead of MIUI skin on top of Android which is seen on every device that has been launched by Xiaomi till now. Now, this smartphone also became the first smartphone to be launched by the company in the Android One lineup which was started by Google a few years back. Also, the Xiaomi Mi A1 became the first Android One smartphone to come with a premium build quality and dual camera setup on the back.
Now, the smartphone was launched with Android 7.1 Nougat which was the latest version of Android at the time of launch of the Xiaomi Mi A1 as Google released the Android 8.0 Oreo update soon after the launch of Mi A1. Also, the device has been guaranteed to get updates to the latest version of Android up to Android P which means that the device will receive at least two major Android version updates which is a great thing to have for a device launched in the mid-range segment in India.
Also, we have known from a few days that the Android Oreo update for the Xiaomi Mi A1 was in the testing phase from Xiaomi and the beta version was released to the Mi A1 users who had enrolled in beta. However, we are pleased to let you know that the beta testing of the Android Oreo update has been finished now and the company has started to roll out the Official Android Oreo update to the Xiaomi Mi A1.
Talking about the official update to Android Oreo for the Xiaomi Mi A1, we have known that update comes as an OTA to the devices in India and around the world. Apart from that, the download size of the OTA update is around 1107MB which is just above the 1GB mark and this update size is expected from a major Android version update like Android Oreo. Also, this update will install the December security patch which is the latest security patch released by Google. Apart from that, the device gets all the Android Oreo features like picture-in-picture mode, smart text selection, adaptive icons, notification dots and more that have been found on Stock Android. Now, the OTA update has been rolled out by Xiaomi to the Mi A1 devices around the world including India and the users of the device will get the OTA on their device in the coming days. In order to check if your device has received the update, you can go to Settings -> System Updates and click on “Check for Updates”.
