Popular Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has taken the wraps off their brand new CC9 series of smartphones. The CC9 series is the fruit of the partnership between popular selfie app company Meitu and Xiaomi. With that said, the devices in the CC9 series (CC9, CC9e, and CC9 Meitu) are all about selfie and battery life. The All new Xioami glass sandwich CC9 starts off the race with a gorgeous 6.39″ Full HD+ AMOLED display. This is a 1080 x 2340 pixels water-drop notched panel featuring a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The panel is protected by the industry-leading Corning Gorilla Glass. However, the display does disappoint in the pixel density department with just 403PPI for such a large panel.
The workload is managed by a mid-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC. Aiding the chipset is either 6GB or 8GB of RAM depending upon the storage variant. As in, you do have a choice of either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The internal memory can be expanded by a Micro SD card slot.
Three-cam system
The Xiaomi CC9 features a triple camera setup at the rear. Firstly, there is a 48MP main snapper. Secondly, we do have an 8MP ultra-wide unit. Lastly, there is a simple 2MP depth sensor to finalize the camera fest.
As for the front facing camera, a 32MP sensor is up front for “selfish people”. The selfie-cam features an AI Portrait mode for low-light situations. Also, the CC9 debuts with Mimoji animated avatars that work with the selfie-cam.
The rear and front-facing shooters can shoot footages at a resolution of up to 4K @ 30fps and Full HD @ 30fps respectively.
Battery power, connectivity and Android OS version
An adequate non-removable 4030 mAh battery is onboard the Xiaomi CC9. A USB-C port and 3.5mm audio jack are available. The Xiaomi CC9 features 18W fast charging.
Coming to the connectivity, it has you all covered with Dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE. GPS is available for navigation and location-based services.
The Xiaomi CC9 runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie.
Pricing, availability, and colors
The base model (6GB + 64GB) is priced at $260 and the top-end model at $290. Sweet, isn’t it? As for availability, the CC9 will hit the market (China for now) starting July 5. Black, Blue, and White are the available paint jobs for the Xiaomi CC9.

A watered-down Xiaomi CC9
This one from Xiaomi is essentially a CC9 but with a few essential changes for an essential price point. As in the CC9e retains the same triple camera, UD finger scanner, and battery. The key differences are a smaller 6″ AMOLED display with a downsized HD+ resolution, a brand new Qualcomm SD 665 and 4GB/6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB of RAM and storage configs respectively.
Pricing starts from $189 for the base variant all the way up to $232 for the maxed out variant.
Xiaomi CC9 Meitu Edition
The Meitu Edition of the CC9 is a regular CC9 but employs Meitu specific features of camera enhancements. However, one key difference is that the Meitu Edition is available in an 8GB + 256GB configuration. For those unaware, Meitu is a popular camera and selfie app company that Xiaomi acquired late last year. With that said, the device is aimed at vloggers with features such as movie portraits and vlog mode with video stabilization. Also, there are AI-powered low light portrait mode and full body beauty filters.
