Popular smartphone manufacturer Vivo unveiled the iQOO Neo gaming smartphone earlier this month. The iQOO Neo is a slightly toned-down version of their iQOO high-end gaming phone. As in the former has last year’s flagship SoC among other lowered down specs. However, the Vivo iQOO Neo is no slouch.
Vivo iQOO Neo Specs
Super AMOLED, SD 845, up to 8GB RAM
Although the Vivo iQOO Neo is sort of a lite or a toned-down version of the iQOO, the former has impressive specs to boot. As you may have read at the beginning of this post, the iQOO Neo uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset but we know it is still a highly capable and decent SoC. The chipset employs a dedicated cooling system for longer and smoother gaming sessions. Aiding the chipset is either an 8GB or 6GB of RAM. Available Storage capacity options are 128GB or 64GB. Having said that, a MicroSD card slot is absent from the Vivo iQOO Neo, which is a disappointment, to say the least.
For an immersive gaming experience and great visuals, there’s a tall 6.38″ Super AMOLED which is of the Full HD+ variety. Meaning, the aspect ratio, and resolution are 19.5:9 and 1080 x 2340 (same as the Vivo iQOO Neo wallpapers). Speaking of which, the Vivo iQOO Neo features Touch Acceleration for the digitizer which helps to have zero lags while using in-game joysticks. As for biometric authentication, Vivo has equipped the iQOO Neo with an in-display fingerprint scanner and a front-camera based face unlock system.
Vivo iQOO Neo Multi-Turbo feature
Much like its big brother, the new iQOO Neo comes equipped with a Multi-Turbo service. Under this services are a host of services such as AI Turbo, Net Turbo, Center Turbo, Game Turbo and last but not the least Cooling Turbo. These Turbo services help boost the gaming and overall performance of the iQOO Neo for an ultimate gaming experience.
Three-camera setup
At the rear of the iQOO Neo is a triple camera system. As in, there’s a primary 12MP (Dual Pixel AF) + 8MP (wide) + 2MP (depth sensor) sensor combination. On the front side is again a 12MP camera for selfies. Both rear and front-facing cams can record videos at a resolution of up to 4K @ 30 fps and Full HD @ 30 fps respectively.
Battery, connectivity and OS version
Onboard the Vivo iQOO Neo is an impressive 4500mAh battery. To top-up the massive battery, Vivo has employed its 22.5 W FlashCharge technology, helping it fill up 50% full in 30 minutes.
Now coming to the connectivity side of the Vivo iQOO Neo, there is Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE with A2DP, GPS for navigation and location-based services and more. Vivo has retained the 3.5mm audio jack for audiophiles. Also, as expected, a USB-C port is onboard.
Running the hardware is Android 9.0 Pie based on Vivo’s Funtouch OS 9 skin.
Availability, price, and color options
The Vivo iQOO Neo is available in China and maybe other parts of the world. Prices start at $260 for the base 6+64GB variant all the way up to $335 for the maxed-out 8+128GB model. Available paint jobs are Purple and Black.
