The S-Health is a versatile fitness app and, to be honest, it’s the only system app to come with Samsung Galaxy devices that I love. However, there are times when you have to choose between two things you love. Actually, I am talking about root privilege on a Samsung device and the S-Health app. By following the trick below you can use S-Health on rooted Samsung devices.
You must be aware that S-Health app (version 5.0 and above) doesn’t work on any Samsung Galaxy device if it’s rooted or the KNOX Warranty void counter is tripped. You get a popup saying: “Unable to open the app: Your device has been compromised. S Health versions 5.0 and above are not available on compromised devices.”
Your Samsung phone must be running on the stock firmware if you want to enjoy this app. Since root access and TWRP recovery are more useful than S-Health, I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and started using 3rd-party fitness apps. Fortunately, there’s an easy workaround available now that allows you to use S-Health app on rooted Samsung devices with tripped KNOX counter.

Isn’t it a piece of good news? Having both the worlds in your grip! So, having followed the instructions provided below, you can root and the S-Health app both.
Steps to Use S-Health on Rooted Samsung Devices
- Download a root file browser like Root Browser, Root Explorer, or ES File Explorerย on your Samsung Galaxy device. In my case, I used Root Browser.
- Open the root file manager you installed on your phone and grant it root permission if prompted.
- Now go to the /systemย folder and open it.
- Look for a file named build.prop and tap it to open.
- Now look for the following entry in the build.prop.
ro.config.tima=1
- Change the numerical value for this entry from “1” to “0” as shown below:
ro.config.tima=0
- Now tap the Save icon on the top-left corner of the screen to save the changes.
- Exit the root file explorer app and then reboot your phone.
- When your phone boots up, open the S-Health app. It should now launch normally.
Enjoy! Below are some screenshots as proof to show you that the trick works fine.
ty so much it worked on my galaxy s7 root
Glad to know!
My device failed to save build.prop file.
How am i save that file?
Please help me
Try a different root file browser and also get BusyBox from the Play Store and install its script.
Awesome! Worked like a charm on my Exynos Note 8 via BuildProp Editor. Would you happen to have a similar procedure to get Samsung Pass working on Magisk rooted devices?
if not have rooted your phone and same error shows here is a solution you can try
it worked for me
i had same problem. i used Samsung Smart Switch on PC and Connect the Samsung phone to the PC you should find a function on smart switch program called device initialization. i think when you hard reset a phone some kind of security kick in with Knox because the problem turn after i hard-reset for a young friend she could not remember the code to her Samsung account and to the email.
download smart switch
actually after a hard reset the same error show on as yours and did a normal factory reset. and after that it showed another error and then i used Smart Switch
Wow , good
!
worked perfectly thanks…can we re-enable knox after rooting s6 edge
Used Build.prop Editor from Google Play instead.
So, did it work?
Yeah ๐
Cant save the file.. Doesnt work.,, “Failed to save file”.
Worked perfectly on my S8 using Root Browser, Thanks.
Glad to know!
I did this but it don’t work.. .I used Root Browser and I restarted device after saving change but I still got the same message when try to run the app. Any suggestion?
Try a different root file browser.
It says that file isnt saved. And now I have this message on app (it’s on Serbian, sorry) https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/7d2d830d926dfac300322ad77ac7918fce1309e1115569bee4efefb40a8ecb2a.png https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f960491ffb48a0dd6070401b52b227351f65595e45e93d4fd69b89dae01c9aad.png
Go to /system/app and delete all KNOX related files. Then try again. The method works!
I tried this,delete it but it’s still there https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/01959f73c874807357554c2fe2b3e04d5d2b37b6369ecc9db68a540039c6aaff.png
Install BusyBox: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en
Open Busybox and install the script.
Reboot your phone
Try again. You can also try ES Explorer.
I am on stock firmware but i had my mobile rooted before.
Failed to save the change! Any tips?
I guess you are using Root Browser. Try changing the permissions gain and even if it fails again, reboot the phone. It’ll work. Don’t forget to get back and tell me if it worked or not.
