How to Use Your Own Handwriting as Font on Android
The MyScriptFont website will be soon closed in favor of their new and improved service Calligraphr. Unlikeย MyScriptFont,ย Calligraphrย is available as both paid and free versions. The free version is similar to the old service while the paid version gives you more options at $6.90 per month fee.
- Go to Calligraphrย websiteย andย click onย “Get Started Free” button toย start. This will take you to a registration page where you sign up for free. You canย alsoย use theย “Quick test our technology! No login required” column on the right side of the websiteย to try theย software withoutย logging in.
- Download the template in PDF or PNG format. You can directly download it in PDF or PNGย format.
- Take a print of the template and fill it using a good black pen. Make sure the characters are readable.
- Scan the filled sheet with a scanner (don’t take a snap from your phone, it didn’t work out well) at 300-600 DPI to ensure the quality.
- Now, visit theย Calligraphrย website once again and upload the scanned template. Click on “Generate Font”
- Download the generated font (.ttf) file and transfer it your Android device.
- Download 3rd-party applications like iFont (for rooted users) or HiFont (non-rooted users) on your device.

- In the iFont app, open MY tab and click on My Fontย ยป select ‘click this’ย to pick your font from SDcard. It’ll open a preview, click on Setย button to set your own handwriting as aย font.
- On non-rooted Android devices, copy the .ttf file to HiFont directory in your SDcard. Open Hifont app, click scanย and your font should be listed. Click on your font and set it as the system font.
- In the iFont app, open MY tab and click on My Fontย ยป select ‘click this’ย to pick your font from SDcard. It’ll open a preview, click on Setย button to set your own handwriting as aย font.
