The Galaxy Grand Duos was launched by Samsung to provide a cheaper alternative for those who wish to own a smartphone with big display at economic price. Since the company wanted to target consumers in Asian countries like India and China, it also comes with dual SIM support because people in these countries like to have such phones. The device is available in the market for quite a long time and was released with Android 4.1.1 out of the box.
Later it got Android 4.2.2 and now, when Samsung has already been rolling out Android 4.2.2 for a number of its devices, the Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 has finally got a major software upgrade we were all waiting for a long time. Samsung had been working on the new firmware release since June 2013, and with the leak of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware for the phone back in early July, it was just a matter of time for the official roll out.
The Android 4.2.2 firmware update for the Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 is available for the users of the device in 9 countries. Since all the firmwares, except one for Philippines, are unbranded, they can be installed on any Grand Duos that is not locked to a network carrier.

mine says the same thing as Jude’s and i really want to update my OS to 4.2.2 i wanna know if the official release has been released for Bangladesh. please any one help me in letting me know how to update my galazy grand.
why cant I update my software? mine is 4.1.2? everytime I search for updates all it says is that the available latest update has been installed? helped anyone?
Install the firmware manually via Odin then.
hot file sites sucks not getting files ??
i successfully updated to android 4.2.2 the only problem is i can’t boot to recovery mode, i installed CWM through ODIN but still can’t get to CWM recovery mode. is someone encounter this problem after update?
yes I have it… its rooted and cwm installed on the official ( not leaked) firmware .. is it safe to do that given that partition map has changed ??
Well, I am not that sure but I will not recommend that. To reset the partition use the correct PIT file. Go the Odin way.
ok.. so shall I download the original 4.1.2 firmware and flash it using odin ? ( the single md5 file way).. ? becoz at the time when I flashed 4.2.2 it didn’t had a pit file and neither did I selected the re-partition option.. so is the file still needed or the firmware itself is sufficient ? Thanks for your prompt replies.. 🙂
Yes, Odin will be right. Actually all firmwares contain PDA, Modem, CSC and PIT files within them, but sometimes we have to use PIT to reset the partition. You can go with the single file method and if it does not show correct partition, you’ll have to look for the correct PIT depending on your phones’s storage, such as 8GB or 16GB.
Ok.. Thanks a lot!! u saved my day… i was about to do a cwm recovery..
hey! I want to downgrade my grand from 4.2.2 to 4.1.2.. can I do it using my previous cwm backup ?? P.S. the partition mapping for galaxy grand has changed in 4.2.2… so, would it be safe to restore using cwm ??
How would you restore via CWM, do you have CWM on 4.2.2?
If no, use this guide: http://droidviews.com/2013/how-to-downgrade-firmware-on-samsung-galaxy-devices/
not better battery life… its battery draining too fast compared to 4.1.2.. 4.2.2 sucks.. i am going to revert it..
Do a data factory reset and it’ll be fine.
