Sony released the flagship smartphone from the company in the Sony Xperia X series which was named as the Sony Xperia XZ at the MWC earlier this year in February. However, the company later released the successor to the Sony Xperia XZ with the latest smartphones which were launched as the Sony Xperia XZ1 and the XZ1 Compact. Now, both the smartphones come with top-notch hardware which is expected from Sony flagship smartphones. The Xperia XZ1 comes with a 5.2-inch display whereas the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact comes with a smaller 4.6-inch display. Also, both the Xperia XZ1 and the Xperia XZ1 Compact come with Snapdragon 835 processor and have 2700mAh battery.
Also, the Xperia XZ1 and the XZ1 Compact were released by Sony with Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box along with Sony’s custom skin of Android on top of it. Now, these smartphones are getting a new update which brings the latest November security patch update which wasย released by Google in the beginning of November. The build number of the update for the Sony Xperia XZ1 and the XZ1 Compact isย 47.1.A.5.51.ย Also, the update is based on Android 8.0 Oreo which is the latest version of Android.
Now, the users of the Sony Xperia XZ1 and the XZ1 Compact were complaining about the issue of image distortion on their camera. Sony had promised to release an update for both the smartphones with a potential fix for the distortion problem of the images via a setting for the distortion-mitigating option and the company has kept its promise. We have known that the latest update for the Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact has been focused on image quality and the problem has now been fixed on the devices after the update.
Also, keep in mind that the updates have been rolled out by Sony over-the-air across all the regions around the world. However, the OTA updates generally take some time to reach all of the devices in various different regions so you should wait for the update to come to your device and then install the update once it is available for your device. In order to check if the update is available on your phone, visit Settings -> About Phone and “Check for Update”.
Apart from that, if you don’t want to wait for the OTA update to come to your device then you can manually update your device from your PC. You will need to follow our guide onย installing stock firmware on Xperia devices using XperiFirm and Flashtool. You can find the latest software update for your Sony device from here.
