Love it or hate it, but you simply can’t ignore it. This seems to aptly describe the famous video-sharing platform app known as TikTok. It provides users with the ability to record 60 seconds of lip-sync video and upload it over the app. Launched initially as Musical.ly, the app has now been downloaded over 100 million times. Riding on this success, the parent company of TikTok, ByteDance, has gone ahead and launched its first smartphone in the market. The news comes after the company recently acquired some patents of the Smartisan mobile manufacturer. Let’s have a look at its specifications and some of the Tik-Tok exclusive features that Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 beholds.
Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 Specifications
Called as Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3, the device has already being touted as the “TikTok smartphone”. It comes with some pretty impressive features, to say the least. The device sports a 6.39-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. On the chipset front, it comes with Snapdragon 855+ chipset. This is the most powerful chipset currently available. It is combined with an Adreno 640 GPU. This TikTok smartphone further comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. Included inside is a 4,000mAh battery, which should be capable enough to support these hefty features. It further has added support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ technology.
Camera and O/S
Talking about the camera department, this TikTok smartphone features a quad rear camera setup. The primary sensor is paired with a 48MP Sony IMX586 lens. Whereas the other three cameras include a 13MP wide-angle sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 5MP macro sensor. For the selfie enthusiasts, it sports an equally impressive 20MP front camera. As far as the operating system is concerned, it comes preloaded with its own customized OS based on Android. Called the Smartisan OS 7, surprisingly it is still based on Android Oreo 8.1. This might hold back certain people from purchasing it, which brings us to its availability.
Pricing and Availability
Currently, the TikTok smartphone is only available in China, with no plans in sight to expand it to other parts of the world. The device is priced at Yuan 2,899 (approximately Rs 29,000) for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant and Yuan 2,199 (approximately Rs 32,000) for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant. Its top-end device comes with a price tag of Yuan 3,599 (that roughly translates to Rs 36,000) for the 12GB RAM/256GB storage variant. To lure the initial customers, ByteDance’s first sale is offering a discount of CNY 200 (roughly Rs. 2,000) on all variants of the device. It comes in Black, White, and Matsutake color variants.
Final Thoughts
This TikTok device is sure to catch the attention of many of the Chinese users, especially so after integrating some TikTok exclusive features. These include the ability to directly access the app right from the lock screen, with just a single swipe gesture. It provides the option to edit and apply TikTok exclusive filters and effects to videos of any length, and just to 6o-second clips that normal users have at their disposal. What doy ou think of this device? Will it become a talking point of the masses, or could it’s OS hold it back. Do share your views in the comments section below.
