Samsung has been pushing the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update to almost all deserving devices for more than a month now. The hue and cry regarding the Exynos vulnerability abuse and WiFi connectivity made the manufacturer halt for some time and then they began the roll out again. The Galaxy S3 was the first device from Samsung to be treated with Android 4.1.2 update that brought the Premium Suite upgrade features to this popular smartphone.
While most Galaxy S3 users have updated their phones to Android 4.1.2 (OTA or manually) there are still many who have been waiting to get the latest firmware. The latest version of Android Jelly Bean from Samsung has now made its way to the countries of the South American continent. Galaxy S3 owners in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina can now get the Over-the-Air update via Kies or on-device software update feature: Settings> About> Software update.
If you have any problems with upgrading your phone’s firmware to Android 4.1.2 via Kies or OTA, you can download the full firmware manually and install it on your Galaxy S3 using the Odin flashing tool.
Download the firmware file in zip from above and extract it on your desktop. Inside the extracted folder, you will see a file with .tar.md5 extension. Follow the steps given this Tutorial and sect .tar.md5 file by clicking on the PDA button on Odin.
