The two re-made budget Nokia devices for Verizon starts recieving an update in the US today. The update 00WW_1_13G adds December 2019 and January 2020 security patch on the Nokia 2V. While update 00VZW_1_35F on the Nokia 3V will give it three months worth of security patch update, starting from October 2019 up to December of last year. Verizon never mentioned how huge these updates are, but it should be slightly heavy as it contains multiple months worth of security patches.
According to Verizon, this new update will bring optimizations on device’s performance, and resolve existing issues. Note that these phones did not receive any beta update. Verizon specially conduct tests on their laboratory to optimize their devices.
To download, connect your Nokia 2V or Nokia 3V to a stable Wi-Fi connection then go to Settings and click Software update. You can also use your Verizon Wireless network connection if you have available data left on your account. Also make sure that your smartphone has enough battery before proceeding with the update. Sudden shutdown if devices in the middle of the update process will lead to some serious software damage.
All about the Nokia 2V/3V
The Nokia 2V and Nokia 3V are re-made versions of the Nokia 2 and Nokia 3. The first generation devices is considered failure due the processors used, which recent Android versions can’t support. These Verizon versions has an improved specifications that will allow HMD Global and Verizon to work with it for future software upgrades.
The Nokia 2V has a 5.5-inch HD LCD display in 16:9 aspect ratio. Driving the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, paired with 1GB RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. While this may sound unimpressive, the smartphone is shipped with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition).
Other features includes dual speakers, 8MP AF camera with LED flash on the back, and 5MP sensor for selfie. inside the device fits a large 4,000mAh of battery.
For the Nokia 3V, there’s a 6.3-inch LCD display with HD resolution. The power comes from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 SoC, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of upgradeable internal storage. Unlike the Nokia 2V, the Nokia 3V comes with full-fledge Android 9 Pie.
Imaging-wise, the Nokia 3V features a single 13MP AF at the back with LED flash which can record videos up to 1080@30fps. On the front of the smartphone is a 5MP sensor with wide-angle lens for selfies. Keeping all lights on is the same 4,000mAh battery.
