HMD Global’s ultra budget smartphone, the Nokia 2.3, finally hits the shelves of largest e-commerce site in the US. After launching in Best Buy last month, the smartphone is finally now available for pre-order via Amazon US. It will start shipping on 9th of February with a pricetag of only $129 USD.
“Consumers world over have really appreciated the Nokia 2 family of products. The Nokia 2.3 is a step forward in our promise of offering you an experience that stays fresh longer โ giving consumers access to two years of OS upgrades and three years of monthly security updates even in the affordable price tier,” said Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer for HMD Global.
“On top, it offers industry-leading AI for this segment, large screen and our signature promise of two-day battery life โ making it the ideal pick for those who rely on their smartphone as their primary screen.”
The Nokia 2.3 isn’t going to replace your current mid-range smartphone. It’s aimed even steps below the mid-range segment. So don’t expect it to give you quite heavy performance. Although it sure is fluid nonetheless for the most basic tasks.
Design-wise, the Nokia 2.3 is quite similar to most smartphones today. It has the trendy teardrop notch on its tall 19:9 display, which comes at 6.2-inch with a standard HD+ resolution. Plus HMD is even nice to include a dual rear-facing camera at the back (which we will talk in the later part).
On the inside, the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC powers the Nokia 2.3, together with 2GB RAM, and 32GB of internal space. It’s an old processor. But again, this isn’t for folks who’s into mobile gaming. Although we are pretty sure it can squeeze few of its powers. It is also part of Android One program, so it is surely well-optimised.
For the imaging, the teardrop notch on the Nokia 2.3 houses a 5MP sensor with f/2.4 lens. On the back, it has a 13MP sensor with f/2.2 lens and a 2MP depth sensor for that portrait shots. Although, HMD highlights AI-powered night mode on this phone, the setup is nothing too fancy. Keeping the lights on is the 4000mAh battery.
Just like the Best Buy sale, the pre-order on Amazon US is only available for Sand and Charcoal colorways. So if you are one of those hoping for that lovely Cyan Green, it’ll never be available anytime soon.
Again, shipping starts 9th of February, with pricetage of only $129 USD.
