Welcome the Motorola Moto Z3. The worlds first 5G capable smartphone that’s oddly powered by a flagship SoC of last year.
Lenovo owned Motorola a.k.a. Lenovorola or Motonovo as I would like to put it introduced their so-called flagship device, the Moto Z3 a few days ago in Chicago. Also, the Moto Z3 appears to be the first 5G ready phone in the world possiblyย with the available 5G Moto mod. The so-called flagship Moto Z3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (yes, you read it right, itย is oddly powered by last year’s latest and greatest processor) coupled with an Adreno 540 GPU aided by 4GB of RAM (64GB internal storage). Thankfully, a dedicated MicroSD card slot is available in the device for expanded storage. Providing visuals is a 6in 1080 X 2160pixels Full HD+ MAX Vision AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a not so sharp pixel density of 402 PPI for a 6in display.
Photography is handled by a dual camera setup at the rear featuring a 12MP (f/2.0 lens) + 12MP monochrome sensor combo assisted by dual LED dual-tone flash. The rear camera can record videos at a resolution of up to 4K @ 30fps. An 8MP (f/2.0) shooter is present upfront for selfieholics out there. The front facing camera can record videos at a resolution of to 1080p @ 30fps.
A not so impressive for a 6 incher 3000 mAh battery is onboard to provide decent enough juice to the Moto Z3 and also the device comes bundled with a 15W Turbocharger to top it up fast enough via the USB Type-C port. Coming to the connectivity side of the Moto Z3,ย it has you all covered but with a catch as in it has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE with AptX audio codec support, A2DP and EDR, GPS and more. Unfortunately, the device abandons the good old headphone jack we all love, instead you have to stick with included Type-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter. The Moto Z3 runs on the stock, pure and clean Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with of course a few Moto exclusive features and enhancements. The fingerprint sensor is located towards the right side of the Moto Z3.
Availability, pricing and color options
The Motorola Moto Z3 will be available starting August 16 as a Verizon (a telecom operator in the USA) exclusive device for $480 full retail or in $20/month installment program for 24 months. The Moto Z3 will be available only in one color called Ceramic Black.
