Icon packs are one the most refreshing and easiest ways of styling your smartphones as you don’t have to enter the complications of rooting and flashing a custom ROM. Throw in an awesome launcher along with a high-quality wallpaper and it’s a treat to the eyes. Moonshine is a material icon pack that you should try.
There are tons of icon packs in the Google play store but most of the recognized icon packs are quite old even though they keep adapting to the latest trends (I feel that way). Finding an icon pack with a fresh and original design is very rare at present.
Icon packs from some lesser-known but highly skilled developers are making rounds in the Google play store recently and the one that caught my attention is Moonshine.
Now, before I go on any further I must tell you that I am quite bored with all the icon packs adapting to the material design trend as all of them look very similar to each other. But Moonshine is way different than any other material icon pack you have ever seen.
Moonshine is easily one of my favorite icon pack of all time – it’s in my top 10. At the time of writing, it has 910 icons in its arsenal. You must be thinking that it’s nowhere near those giant icon packs with 2500+ icons but what you should know is that it is a fairly new app as compared to others. Plus it’s way different than what others offer. The time and effort put into it are clearly visible.
Moonshine more than 910 high-resolution icons that give the impression of cards and takes design cues from Google’s material design – hence, the name. All the icons are colorful, sharp, and flat. They look awesome on the screen.
I especially like those icon packs which support icons with the same shape and size – Moko icon pack, which I’ve been using for months, is a nice example. Moonshine also follows the same policy and that is why I liked it the moment I saw it.
Along with all the awesome icons, it also provides 20+ high-quality wallpapers which are unique in their own way. These wallpapers are basically flattened material version of backs of popular phones. It includes wallpapers from Nexus 6P, OnePlus One & Two, LG V10, Moto X Style, LG G4, Samsung Galaxy S6, and a few more.
To be honest, I didn’t like the wallpapers. But it’s just my view, you might find them awesome. However, there were a few wallpapers other than the backs of the phone which basically were a flat version of bamboo and a few other types of woods. I did like those.
One problem that you might run into with Moonshine is the lack of icons for some apps. From my app list, it didn’t have icons for some popular apps like Avast, Minima Pro Live Wallpaper, MyFitnessPal, Table Top Racing, Twilight, and a few more. But since it has an icon request tool I am assuming that icons for all these apps will be available in the future updates.
Moonshine is super awesome and costs less than a dollar so do check it out. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do.
