It is a huge honor for me to write about Franco Francisco, who is considered as one of the best kernel developers on XDA. I might not be able to describe his work in just a few posts because his works are a legend. The Franco Kernel for Nexus 7 is now available now and you must try it to boost the performance and enjoy new features.
Starting from LG Optimus One, Franco proceeded to Huawei U8800, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note, HTC One X, SGS3 and now his work hits the Nexus 7 section. His kernel not only unleashes the true power of a device but also out fronts its uniqueness.
Now, before you can use the Franco Kernel on Nexus 7, I would like you to know how to root your Nexus 7 with ease.
Features of Franco’s Kernel
1. Compatible with CM10
2. Performance & battery optimizations
3. I/O Speed boosted
4. Tweaked Ramdisk
For complete patch list of this kernel, refer to Franco’s sources.
Instructions to Use Franco’s Kernel
– Download the boot image
– Reboot into bootloader
– Type in the following command:
fastboot flash boot name_of_the_image.img
How to toggle Fsync
When Enabled = stock IO speed while having data integrity
When Disabled = more IO throughput but less data integrity
echo Y > /sys/module/sync/parameters/fsync_enabled (N to disable and Y to enable)
You can donate for his work by purchasing his Franco Kernel update app from Google Play Store:
