OnePlus released the flagship smartphone from the company after the release of the OnePlus One and the OnePlus 2 in 2016 which was named as the OnePlus 3. This smartphone was launched by the company with an all-new metal design than the plastic Sandstone finish design that was seen on its previous smartphones. Apart from that, the smartphone also had a significantly better camera than the previous versions and the smartphone was also launched with 6GB of RAM that has been the most amount of RAM on any smartphone till date.
Also, OnePlus 3 was launched by OnePlus with the Snapdragon 820 processor which was the flagship processor from Qualcomm but soon after the release of the Snapdragon 820 chipset, Qualcomm decided to release the Snapdragon 821 processor which was better than the previous version. However, the launch of the latest processor from Qualcomm came after the launch of OnePlus 3 which meant that the smartphone had the previous version of the Qualcomm chipset which was Snapdragon 820. Thus, OnePlus decided to launch the OnePlus 3T which was an upgraded version of the OnePlus 3 and it came with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Now, both of the smartphones were nearly identical in terms of design as well as internals and this was the reason that OnePlus decided to merge the codes of both the smartphones into one.
This meant that the smartphones would get the latest update at the same time and there would be no delay in updating either of the two models. Also, we have seen that the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T were launched with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow along with OxygenOS on top. This meant that the smartphone would be soon updated to Android 7.0 Nougat and the Android 7.1 Nougat which were already released at that time and the devices were updated swiftly by the company as well.
However, the company made a big announcement earlier this year which was that the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T will get the Android Oreo update as the last major version of Android after which the device will only get the latest security patches and the device will not be officially updated further in terms of Android versions. Also, the Android Oreo update has been rolled out to the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T via an update to OxygenOS 5.0 which install the latest version of Android on the devices in the stable channel.
Now, we have known that a new update has been released by OnePlus for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T and this update comes with OxygenOS 5.0.1 which is the incremental update to the previous version,ย OxygenOS 5.0.
Now, we have known that this update is mostly a bug fix update. Apart from that, you now have support for aptX HD on the device along with added adaptive mode screen calibration.
