If you own a Motorola device like Droid Turbo, Moto X or a Moto G you know that their Camera and Gallery applications look and perform better than the stock ones. Motorola’s Gallery application looks really nice with the material design and its camera application makes clicking pictures so easy and fast.
Several Motorola device users miss the Camera and Gallery applications after installing a custom ROM to their device. XDA member Jaocagomez has been kind enough to help all those users out by extracting the Motorola Camera and Gallery applications and other .lib files required from Motorola Droid Turbo and made a flashable zip that will install these applications on any ROM based on CM12 on any device.
The Camera application by Motorola makes clicking pictures snappier and faster, you just need to tap on the screen to click a picture. You could tap anywhere on the screen to capture a moment. There are various settings option for both app UI and Camera features.
Depending on your device, you may/may not be able to change few settings. Sliding left to right shows a ring with different camera options like change image Resolution, turn on/off flash, switch to various modes etc. The camera application also has an option to Control exposure and focus manually which enables a ring which can be dragged around to change focus and a slider is present to control the exposure.
The Gallery application is simple and a nice looking app. All your photos and videos are organized neatly in this application. Photos and videos in the Camera roll can be sorted by time or grouped by event.The material design of the app is what I like most about it.
Things Will Need
- Custom Recovery like CWM or TWRP installed on your device
- CM12 or CM12 based ROM installed on your device
- Motorola Gallery and Motorola Camera.zip: LINK
Do make a backup of your current ROM using a custom Recovery before installing Mods like this, just in case things don’t work well or you mess up something.
How to Install
- Download the zip file from the link provided above.
- Copy the zip file to your device at the desired location (Remember the location).
- Boot your device into Recovery mode.
- Select Install zip option in the recovery and navigate to the zip you just copied on your device. Select it and confirm to install.
- Reboot your device and enjoy Motorola Camera and Gallery.

As a Moto G 2014 user, I do enjoy using these applications and prefer them over the stock ones or from Google. I do flash them right after installing a new custom ROM to my device.
