Most of us were surprised when Samsung announced a Google Edition of its latest flagship Galaxy S4. The same course was followed by the Taiwanese OEM HTC when it also launched the HTC One with pure Vanilla flavor. It has just been a couple of days since these 2 smartphones hit the market to wrestle with each other on the AOSP front and we already have a lot stuff available for download and custom development.
Yesterday we shared the new Photosphere camera app, bootanimation and the Sun Beam live wallpaper from the Galaxy S4 GE for all Android phones. All these stuff came from the Google Edition S4’s system dump and has we expected, developers have started working on bringing out the repackaged versions of firmwares from these flagships to other devices.
The race has already begun and the first installment of the repackaged stock Android 4.2.2 Google Play Edition ROM has now arrived to the HTC One M7. Do not be surprised and say thanks to bigxie from XDA for his hard work! This ROM is based of the system dump of Google Play Edition HTC One, and is rooted with Koush’s superuser app and binary.
Features:
There is no extra rings and bells in this ROM and what you get is the pure AOSP feel that performs so good! However, we would like to inform you that the ROM doesn’t have any of Sense UI features as it is a completely non-Sense ROM. So do not expect them. It has all stock features that come with the Google Edition variant of the phone like:
- Stock Android 4.2.2 with Google Apps
- New Photosphere Camera UI with improved thumb controls
- Wifi and BT are working
- Beats Audio toggle in sound settings
- Tbalden 4.2.2 kernel
- Hold power + Volume down to capture screen

How to Install:
Since it is a custom ROM, it requires root and a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) on your HTC One M7. So make sure you have them. Download the ROM file and copy to your phone. Install it as you install any custom ROM. For detailed installation steps, please head over to our tutorial at this post.
