Almost all variants of the Galaxy S7 have already received the Nougat update and now the Korean giant seems to have turned its eye to our good old Galaxy S6. While the international models of the phone got the Nougat OTA more than a week ago, the users of the AT&T variant have not started receiving it.
Since the full Android Nougat firmware for the device is not available anywhere, you will have to flash the OTA zip packages depending on your current firmware version in incremental order. In this tutorial, we’ll see how we can install Android Nougat on s6.
If you have not been able to get the official Nougat OTA on yourย AT&T Galaxy S6 (SM-G920A) or S6 Edge (SM-G925A), you can update your phone’s software by installing the OTA zips provided below.
Disclaimer
Please note that your AT&T Galaxy S6/S6 must be fully stock to install the OTA. Though we have taken utmost care in laying out the installation steps, a successful installation depends on how you follow them. Proceed at your own responsibility and don’t go ahead if you don’t understand at all what you are going to do.
Getting Prepared
Before you proceed, here’re a few preparations you need to make so that things go smoothly for you.
- Backup all your data and apps using Smart Switch as aย precaution.
- Go to Settings> Personal> Lockscreen and security> Find my mobile and turn offย Reactivation Lock.
- Go to Settings> Developer options and enable USB debuggingย (this is just as aย precaution).
- If you have disabled any system apps, please enable them fromย Settings> Applicationsย or the OTA file installation might fail.
- Charge your Galaxy S6 so that it has 60% battery level at least.

Hi Rakesh, I have a samsung SM-G925A, I followed the steps and I’m stuck in the .zip file. I removed the usb and now I’m getting an error “An error has occurred while updating the device software.Use the emergency function in the smart switch software. I tried downloading the Smart switch and it looks like I’m getting a c++ library error. Now I’m stuck..
Worked! Thank you!
Glad to know!
One addition. After I used the instructions in the April 12, 2017 update section, the phone started back up and worked fine, but only showed 9GB or so of storage on my 64GB phone. I saw the solution on another site, so am passing it along here. All you need to do is one more step which is to reset the phone to factory. Could be painful for some, but this my old phone and I’m using it for music control and a few other things so I didn’t care. Once I did the reset, I could see the entire 64GB of storage. This flashed my phone to the December, 2017 update. Do you know if more current version are available? Thanks again! Such an easy process!

You can download and install the firmware from above.
Hi! I’d like to downgrade my firmware version G925AUCS6EQJ2 (Android 7.0.1) to Android 6.0.1. Android 7 is not working properly for me. What can I do? What firmware should I use?
Thanks a lot
I am afraid you’ll not be able to downgrade. Greater versions of bootloader don’t let themselves overwritten by lesser ones.
Very bad for me because after I updated to android 7.0.1 my phone (At&t unlocked) stopped working on T-mobile MVNO. Is there a way to flash it to at least android 7.0 (the first version)? Thanks very much Rakesh
That you can do. Install SS-G925AUCS6DQC1.zip or G925AUCU6EQCF.zip. You can find the links above.
Sure, just install it and perform a data factory reset after installing the firmware. The bootloop issue should be fixed. Good luck!
my baseband version is G925AUCU3BOI2 can I use the update?
Hi Valentine, yes, you can go ahead and flash the firmware using Odin. ๐
let me try then

Hi I’m confuse can somebody help me please?
The thing is I have a G920A AT&T with the baseband version (G920AUCU3CPD5 Android 6.0.1) and I really would like to know if I have to install first G920AUCS6DQC1 directly with Odin even though is not the same baseband and then from G920AUCS6DQC1 to U6EQCF Nougat update OTA zip with ADB, and sorry I’m new to all of this and thank you.
Hi, download and install this firmware: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0BxSORq_9mu52SUV2bUN0bEdmeVU&export=download
Use this tutorial: https://www.droidviews.com/nougat-firmware-on-att-galaxy-s7s7-edge-sm-g930a-g935a/
After that install this OTA ZIP: G925AUCS6DQC1-to-U6EQCF.zip
Thank you so much.
Thanks a lot Rakesh! Achieved in first attempt ๐
I tried to update Nougat by using Odin for my SM-G920A.
I followed the instruction, flahed the firmware, and everything worked well. Odin said it was successfull, yet my Android remains 6.0.1. I don’t know what the problem is. Will try the OTA one later …
hello I downloaded the “G920AUCS6DQC1- Full-ODIN-firmware” and updated but still its 6.0.1 on my phone ???
I have Baseband Version of: G925AUCS5DPI1 ! which firmware to download?
same here. please help.
Do you still need help?
Hello from Bulgaria! I’m with SG-G925A and I do all steps with Odin and all worked perfect. Now I’m on adb mode and waiting from maybe 30-40 minutes… my phone shows Unpacking new files… and on the command window shows that the process is on 96%, but it is 96% for more than 20 minutes… Is it normal? I mean is it takes too much time or its fine? Thanks!
It shouldn’t take that long. Disconnect the phone, reboot it and try again.
I’m already done, the phone works perfect and faster. Thanks!
Great, enjoy!
Successfully updated on first attempt ๐
Thank you ๐
Glad to know! You’re welcome!
Hi Oren, “flag” is a typo. I actually meant flash or install. First of all, Install the QC1 firmware that is the latest Marshmallow release for the device. After that you need to install the QC1-QCF OTA zip file as described in the guide.
Flashing the OTA through ADB will wipe your phone’s data so don’t forget to backup your device first.
My baseband is G25A. I already try a couple of times the both ways and it didn’t work. The method of Odin stays on “File Analysis” and the adb sideload method print the message “Total xfer: 1.15x”.
Did you remove the .rar extension from the firmware files?
Yes.
Okay. Try adding “.md5” after .Tar in all 4 files and try installing again. It worked for me.
I already try that several times too and Odin don’t even let me put the files. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/548e0ef747a84f5944c945ee9a0a9f42111d703e1aa2884ad2def800493133a3.jpg
same problem here ๐
found the issue, its not “removing” the rar extension, but extracting it, the valid md5 files are in the rar.
do it for all files.
Yes!! Thanks Oren. I am updating the phone right now and everything seems normal.
Updating:
everything worked fine,
Many thanks !!!
Downloaded pk3 to qb8 and Odin won’t find the files and add says can’t read the file
PK3 to QB8 is an OTA zip file. Odin detects only .tar or .tar.md5 files.
OTAs must be installed using ADB sideloading method described in the tutorial.
My baseband version is G920AUCS5DPK3. What file/files do i need to download to get my S6 on Nougat?
Download and install the SS-G925AUCS6DQC1.zip firmware: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0BxSORq_9mu52SUV2bUN0bEdmeVU&export=download
Then install the QC1 to QCF Nougat OTA zip.
G920AUCS6DQC1-to-U6EQCF is not like the other files, it won’t let sideload it.
What error do you get?
Ok, That’s were I get lost…
What happened?
Nothing yet. I’m from Argentina, my english is not so good and I don’t understand the istructions 100%. I mean that I get lost trying to understand.
So, do you need any assistance?
Hi, my baseband is G925AUCS4CPG1. All Iยดve got to do is install the 4 files via odin and that’s all? Thanks Rakesh!
Yes. After installing the firmware files , just flag the Nougat OTA using the instructions above.
Hi,
What do you mean by “flag the Nougat OTA”, assuming the firmware installation ended successfully, so I need to do it, is it the adb sideloading section, doe it going to wipe my data?
thanks.
I mean that after installing the firmware successfully you have to flash or install that Nougat OTA zip file via ADB Side-loading. You can find the instructions for that same above.
when is this update coming automatically?
My baseband is G925AUCU3CPD6, can I use G925AUCS6DQC1 via Odin? Thanks.
My baseband version is G925AUCU5API1, can i still upgrade my phone?
Yes, install the stock Nougat firmware.
Where is download link for rom full G92AUCS5DPK5?
You’ll find it in the tutorial above.
I attempted to do this with the updated link and all it did was re add 6.0.1
My Baseband version is G920AUCU5API1 ? Can I still be able to upgrade it?
Yes, you can install the Nougat firmware on any older baseband version.
How? Please can you tell me?
Download this firmware: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0BxSORq_9mu52SUV2bUN0bEdmeVU&export=download
And, install it using the instructions given here:
https://www.droidviews.com/nougat-firmware-on-att-galaxy-s7s7-edge-sm-g930a-g935a/
Thanks. I’ll try
Hello Rakesh i install this but I’am again in 6.0.1 ne Baseband change in G920AUCS6DQC1. Now how to get Nougat. can you send me a download link for Nougat firmware
Sounds weird! Try performing a data factory reset via stock recovery and flash the firmware again.
didn’t work again ๐
Just updated the guide. Do as described and you’ll update your phone successfully.
Finally I did!
Thanks Rakesh!
Glad to know, Chris! ๐
when is this update coming automatically?
Hi Rakesh. How if my Baseband version is G920AUCU3CPD6? Can I still be able to upgrade it?
Hi Alvin, sorry for the late reply. Here’s an easier way to update your phone to Nougat. Download this firmware: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0BxSORq_9mu52SUV2bUN0bEdmeVU&export=download
Extract the zip file and install it using the steps given here: https://www.droidviews.com/nougat-firmware-on-att-galaxy-s7s7-edge-sm-g930a-g935a/
Hi, is this procedure adequated also for the G925AUCS4CPG1 ? thanks.
Yes. Download the firmware: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0B4sOy1rlqVoYcmdNNWpEWUxTeVU&export=download
You can install it on any firmware version.
Hi Rakesh! Update complete, thank you! Anyway, just wondering Android version is still 6.0.1. is it normal? Though the system already change.
Help bro, my baseband is same, can i upgrade to nougat manually
Hi, I just updated the tutorial. You also need to install the Nougat OTA file.
When the update will come automatically? Date?
It should be out within a week.
Thanks!
I have successfully done everything but the setup wizard is not finishing after the last ‘Just a sec’ screen. Any help will appreciated. Thanks
Make sure you have a working data/WiFi connection.
You can also try a data factory reset via the stock recovery: https://www.droidviews.com/how-to-perform-data-factory-reset-and-wipe-cache-on-samsung-galaxy-devices/
I have a working internet, tried both wifi and data but its stil same, even tried factory reset, Also tried without sim.
Sounds weird! Then try reinstalling the firmware.
Can I try reinstalling it through apply update from sd card’? Through placing the zip file in storage?
You can try that but you would need an USB OTG for that. It would be better if you start from the scratch. I mean re-flash the PK5 firmware in Odin followed by the OTA update zip via recovery.
internet is absolutely working because it logs me in using google account.
I have a At&T S6 edge wih PD6 wich firmware is the correct?
I also want to know my phone is the same
Just replied above. Just install the files I mentioned above.
Install the PK5 firmware: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzC9XVTtkueFc2xOV3ZPRzBEMFE/view
And then, install SS-G925AUCS5DPK5-to-U5EQA8-UP.zip
What one do I install if I have At&T S6 edge with baseband G925AUCS6DQC1? Plz help.
Downgrade to G925AATT5DPK5 firmware and then install PK5 to QC9 OTA zip.
Thank you.
Make sure your phone is fully stock and also that you have not disabled any system app or bloat.
yes it is fully stock, and the device status is official, no system apps were disabled since i factory restored the device before operation. All previous links for android marshmallow update went successful until this large update firmware was attempted. ADB stopped responding to work and the error was generated. I tried it on a different system with different OS. Same error.
Okay. Is you phone on PK5 firmware?
Yes, But thanks brother….the problem is solved now….what I sorted out is that the issue is not with the update packages….rather its an ADB server support issue….the platform tools you provided in the link does not support either bootloader version 6 or the android 7 version itself….so I tried the minimal ADB fastboot. And it went with success! The same issue is with the S6 edge plus at&t another guy is experiencing on another forum on Droidview…better help him out also….
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/aedf178621ef06b64c804d602beed52d7c05b568eeab25f590b607d1aacb5d99.png
I guess this screenshot will help understand how it went…
Hi Abdul, just updated the guide.
Full Nougat firmware is available now. Post updated!
Thanks bro!
Please help, the updates of Nougat dont work. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/08c5937c96fd4d26d80590491889f4c1329596de439aee33636928fd0d834db6.png
I tried both of these firmwares: SS-G920AUCU5DQB3-to-U5EQB8-UP.zip
SS-G920AUCS5DPK5-to-U5EQA8-UP.zip
i have a At&t S6 edge (sm-g925a) with base band G925AUCU4DPH5, can i flash it?
Install the PK5 firmware first: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzC9XVTtkueFc2xOV3ZPRzBEMFE/view
And then you can install the OTA.
And wich one OTA I have to install? For the s6 edge there are 2
This one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8qJOpRRuEvKbFJXS2hwemI5RlU/view
this is the right one? have da same galaxy model with base band G925AUCS4CPF1.
Yes.
Wait download the latest one: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0B4sOy1rlqVoYaFJwSGJkUFRBUG8&export=download
Just updated.
Your “Getting Prepared” steps says: Make sure you have inserted an external micro SD card into your phone.
But Galaxy S6 does not take external SD card. How do I install the OTA for Galaxy S6?
That was a mistake. Edited. Use the ADB method.
