Moto Z Play was Motorola’s mid range device from last year and it received a lot of positive reviews for its 2-day battery life and the modular feature. The device was launched with Android Marshmallow 6.0 and it was updated to Android Nougat 7.0 earlier this year.
While most Motorola devices have already been updated to the latest stable version of Android Nougat 7.1.1, Moto Z Play is late to join the party. It has been in the soak test for the past few weeks and Motorola has finally decided to roll out the Android Nougat 7.1.1 to the Moto Z Play devices across the world.
Currently, the Moto Z Play devices in India are getting an OTA update for the Android Nougat 7.1.1 with the retin firmware and the July Security Patch update. You can manually check for the update by going to Settings->About Phone->System Updates.
Android Nougat 7.1.1 brings with it a few minor UI changes like adding a settings icon to the notification panel, app shortcuts to the launcher and color and design changes of stock icons and app. There are a lot of under the hood changes though like performance and stability improvements and a new Google Duo app has been added.
If you have not yet received the Android Nougat 7.1.1 update on your Moto Z Play, don’t worry, you can download the OTA update from the link below and install the update manually on your device by following our step by step instructions.

Things to consider โฆ
Flashing an official update shouldnโt void any warranty that you may have. But if you donโt follow the steps correctly, you might end up with an unusable device. Sometimes, even when youโve seemingly done everything right things might not work out. Human errors are always a possibility. In any case,ย DroidViewsย does not take any responsibility. But we are willing to help solve your problems.
Also, note that you cannot downgrade to a previous software version after installing this update. That is unless your Moto X Play has an unlocked bootloader. If it doesnโt have an unlocked bootloader, flashing the official ROM will not automatically re-lock it. It will, however, unroot your device if it is rooted.
