Hi, I’m not sure if you guys are still checking this site but I keep on getting an error message. B(
I downloaded the firmware and Odin. But I’m following the steps but it says “FAIL” instead of “PASS”. I’m pretty sure I have the right firmware, so I’m not sure what…is up.
Show me the Odin screenshot.
I just realized I wasn’t clear in my first message. I’m trying to downgrade from Lollipop to Kitkat.
http://tinypic.com/r/2mmak44/8
Lollipop Bootloader is write protected, so you won’t be able to downgrade. You can upgrade though.
Does that mean there’s no possible way I can downgrade? :^O
Might sound unpleasant, but it’s true.
Oh, I see.
It’s frustrating that I can’t downgrade but I’ll live with it, I suppose.
Rakesh before I go, I’m just curious(This is just for my reassurance that I can’t downgrade).. I was trying to follow a bunch of different tutorials earlier trying to downgrade..
I was basically trying to follow this tutorial: http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/489071-tutorial-downgrade-samsung-galaxy-s5-5-0-4-4-kitkat.html
But because of Lolipop’s bootloader is it impossible? I
‘m sorry I’m dragging this conversation out for so long.
Yes, the undowngradable bootloader is the culprit. The tutorial you are referring to is about the Verizon S5 and it’s quite irrelevant for you at least.
Damn!This sucks a lot aa
Thank you so much Rakesh!
Sorry to bother you again once more but with the Lolipop update, is there a way to get your notifications to show up on your lock screen?
Lollipop already has the feature.
Just kidding! Don’t answer the question about the notifications.
Have a nice day, Rakesh!
moi install root 5.0.1 lollipop comment fait pour installer version d origin 4.4.2 par c que le wifi ne march pas 5.0.1??????

i just updated with the above mentioned steps everything went fine except that when the phone started i cant locate the mobile data icon in the notification panel and nor does it automatically detect my carrier… what to do please help
Are you still having the issue?
yes the issue is still there
Dial *#06# and check if you can see the IMEI.
yes i get the IMEI
Then try a data factory reset from stock recovery.
already done but no use
any update on what to do next…
I think you should try installing the firmware again, preferably a different firmware version.
thanks but can u post a link for the same… i have SGH-I337 and 4.4.2 installed so please if you can provide me a link for a new firmware which i should try it would be helpful… thanks again
I searched a lot and it looks like that the firmware has been uploaded anywhere. All I got is the 4.2.2 firmware: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-I337/

hey!! i have sgh-i337 baseband I337UCUAMF3, so can I update my fone?

Make sure you’re not using any .pit files, and you model number matches the one stated above. If all is okay and it still doesn’t work try restarting the PC or try changing the USB port.
I think that was the first problem, I my model is the SGH-i337M
So I googled the firmware for that and found one, extracted it, loaded it up and did pretty much the exact same steps.
This time the “loading bar” did begin to work for some seconds but quickly went into a “FAIL!” again. This is the new log:

Hello, i’m having trouble. I’ve had my S4 for over a year now and have never thought of rooting. I tried rooting and did successfully, but when I was uninstalling app through Titanium Backup, I guess I accidentally erased the Home button function. I did not know what to do so I tried reseting back but somehow I ended up with a factory reset phone. I want to update but my Wi-Fi won’t turn on and when I try, it gives me a security warning and tells me to reboot my device. Once I reboot my device it gives me the same error again so i’m stuck with a useless phone! I want to restore my phone back to factory, please help! Model: SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 At&T, Android Version 4.3. Kernel version: 3.4.0-1921628 Build Number: JSS15J.I337UCUEMK2
I got it to work! I just followed your instructions! Thank you! It seems I wasn’t using the right “.tar” file. The one you provided worked for my phone, now I can update my phone again and it’s back to stock! Thank you
Glad to know!
Is there a chance I might brick the phone?
If you follow the steps carefully, there is no chance, else there is.
Does the phone have to be rooted? and will I be able to update to android L thrugh ota later on?
You don’t require root to install official firmware and you will get OTAs after installing.
Thanks! Did it yesterday. Got the 4.4.4 over ota right afterwards!
Ok so i just got 2 new phones and both were 4.2 wanted to update them to 4.4, on the first phone got a pass just fine on the second phone i got a fail… what to do now?
Show me the Odin log.
does anyone know where can i find an original 4.4.4 firmware file to use instead of the 4.4.2 that is linked here?
Sorry, the 4.4.4 firmware file is not available for download.
thanks for the quick response response rakesh. i live in europe and i dont know a way to update my phone to 4.4.4. every time i try i get an error. any suggestion might really help
Is it a GSM model or bounded to a carrier?
its an AT&T S4 (model no. sgh i337. All sgh i337 S4s are made for AT&T). it has been bought from ebay and it has been unlocked. i have a different carrier’s sim installed.
Now your device has nothing to do with AT&T. So now i guess it is GSM. If it so you can try and install the GSM S4 firmware, instead of the AT&T one.
ah…it makes perfect sense now (why its not updating)…and it was bugging me…i assume i might try to revert it to being locked, then update it, then unlock it again.. thanks Dhananjay for the quick responses and the suggestions.
Glad, we could be of help.
You are incorrect. SGH-I337 is a model made specifically for AT&T.
Yes it is, but then again, the device has now been SIM unlocked.
Use the one that ends with NB1.
the download link gave me a .rar file and not a tar.md5
Extract it again. Also show me the file name and size.
ok
here
I dont see a PDA button
Then click the AP button.
I did my research (which I should have done initially) and did just that. Thank you!
Could Samsung Galaxy s4 i337 with baseband i337UCUAMDL update with above firmware?
I successfully got a pass message after installing, but now I can’t get the phone to do anything…charge, start up, etc. Just a paper weight at the moment. Can’t even start it in download mode again. Please help!
Make sure the battery has some juice left on it. Since you said you see no sign of activity like power up and even boot screen, I think it’s the battery issue. You should try a different battery.
Battery is fully charged. Computer does not even recognize phone and won’t charge when put on a charger. I believe that I may be hard bricked. Is it correct to assume this?
The symptoms do point to that but I have been through a similar situation with my S3 long ago. Try this: pull out the battery, wait for a couple of minutes, reinsert the battery and try again.
It might also be a hardware issue. I mean the power button might not be working.
I am getting the following error after clicking on the “Start” button in Odin. What could be wrong?
sboot.bin
NAND Write Start!!
FAIL!
Complete(Write) operation failed.
It appears that you are trying to downgrade, right?
No, I am trying to upgrade from Android 4.2 to Android 4.4 and I get that error. It this something related to the baseband version or the build number?
My Galaxy S4 (AT&T) has baseband version I9500ZSUAMDF and build number JDQ39.I9500ZSUAMDF
Please disregard my previous message. I was successfully able to upgrade the firmware to Android 4.4.2 however now the WiFi does not work. Its icon on the top notifications bar is kind of “disabled green” and when I go to settings->wifi, it says “Turning on” but never turns it on.
Everything is fine now. I was able to successfully upgrade to 4.4.2. Thank you so much for such a detailed explanation and the firmware download link.
what should i install on S4 AT&T NC1? I have tried safetrap, CMW, Philz recovery but they all refuse to unlock that bootloader … sighhhhhhhh … any suggestion?
Do not try installing a custom recovery over a locked bootloader. The bootloader on AT&t and Verizon variants are locked and so you will not be able to install a recovery.
Safestrap should work for you though if you have root on the device.
I have already root the phone using Towelroot and make sure I have rooted using rootchecker.
But still, when I use safestrap, the “root to recovery” is greyed out even after I pressed “install Recovery”. Would you give any suggestion? I am aiming to install Phoenix rom on my GS4.
OK thanks rakesh, I will keep in touch
Hey rakesh, any news an the new update for the s4 ii337?
No. Actually, AT&T does not make its firmwares public. I searched a lot but no avail. If I find something, I would contact you myself.
Hey rakesh, any news an the new for the s4 i337?
Hey rakesh, how is it going man. There is a new update out for the i337 s4. Do you have the link. Sorry for the errors in my first and second post.
Hi, it’s true that the AT&T has released 2 new updates but unfortunately we do not have any links or firmware download yet.
Ok rakesh, thanks for the info. But as soon as you get it can you send me the link?
Sure, I’ll be glad to do that!
Hey takesh how is it man. There is a new update out for the i337 s4 .Do you have the link?

I would still advise you to wait for the next update.
Hi rakesh could you send me the instructions how to root the sghi337, and which one of the custom rom is the best one?
You can root the device but can’t install a custom recovery to flash a custom ROM. The reason is again the KNOX bootloader.
I was able to uninstall Knox with the help of Titanium Backup.
Am still on 4.4.2 Internet is still slow
What is the baseband version of the firmware on your phone?
Hello rakesh, could I root my sghi337 and then return back to 4.2.2?
Hi, you can easily root your device using towelroot:
https://www.droidviews.com/root-att-and-verizon-galaxy-s5-without-voiding-knox-warranty/
However, it won’t help you in downgrading to 4.2.2. As I told you earlier, Samsung’s KNOX bootloader makes this complicated.
Rooted ? Su?

Hi I am new to this site, but as I was following this thread I couldn’t help but wonder if this version of KK 4.4.2 is a fix, for the current 4.4.2 KK that that I have already on my GS4 i337?. I upgraded to KK 4.4.2 around late Feb, early Mar, with some truly bad results. I’ve been experiencing some horrendous bugs such as, lag time (when turning the screen on, once it goes black), a lack of touch response, and screen freezing as well. This all happens daily, with the solution to my problems so far is only rebooting the phone (After the reboot the phone is fine, until the aforementioned occurs again). 4.3 was a battery drainer, but at least I was able to use my phone consistently through out the week without having to reboot once. So my questions are is this a FIX to my phone issues, and if not do you know if the soon to be released KK 4.4.3 & 4.4.4 will be a FIX to these issues?
Thank You
Hi, you can easily find if this firmware version is greater that one installed on your phone. Go to Settings> About device and match compare the build number to I337UCUFNB1.
If you find it newer, you can go with it.
I just checked my phone’s firmware version, it’s I337UCUFNC1. This might be a silly question, but with KK 4.4.3 & KK 4.4.4 either out now or soon, can you tell me what’s the difference between my current firmware I337UCUFNC1 and what I await with the recent ATT firmware update?. I’m a bit skeptical to make the plunge, because my last update to KK 4.4.2 has made my phone a lot worst than the previous JB 4.3.
Thank You
Well, if you are having issues with NC1, the new update could address those issues.
Anyway, the problems you recounted above can be fixed by a data factory reset and wiping cache partition via system recovery. Then you can also try these tweaks:
https://www.droidviews.com/reduce-lag-and-enjoy-faster-touchwiz-on-your-samsung-galaxy-device-no-root/
Hi Rakesh I appreciate that you responded and provided some good advice. Now I have a new issue, I tried upgrading from my I337UCUFNC1 to the newly released I337UCUFNI1 firmware, but for some reason there was a failure in the process, so therefore my phone remained with NC1 fw. Do you have a link where I can locate & download NI1, so I can manually install it?
Thank You,
Hi again Rakesh, Is there a way to update the firmware on a rooted phone?. My i337 has been rooted, I’m guessing this is the reason why I can’t update from firmware NC1 to Ni1. If this is the case can you please explain to me how I can update the firmware for my phone?
Thanks
