Not too long ago, Apple was asked to publicly apologize to Samsung for damaging its reputation, and by publicly, we mean they were to write it on the website and print it in newspapers. Apple, full of ego, did so. Erm, not quite. It seemed like a poor attempt to say, “Hey! Sorry, but no sorry. It was your fault! ” Further, Apple did not post it on its website’s front page and made the font too small. Creativity apple? Don’t we wish they applied the same creativity in its UI design?
Well, we felt the apology wasn’t acceptable, and apparently so did the judges! The Court has asked Apple to give a true apology and change the statement within the next 48Hrs. What’s more? they have to put it on their front page, and not just put a link as they did. Also, it’s supposed to be in no less than 11-point font size, not the tiny font size they used!
The judges called the statement “untrue” and “incorrect”. Justice Robin Jacob said :
Justice Robin Jacob said :
“I’m at a loss that a company such as Apple would do this. That is a plain breach of the order.”
Almost as if Apple had just one thing to do, and couldn’t even do that well. Apple’s lawyers said they would take at least 14days to implement this, instead of 48hrs, to which the court refused and had to say this:
“I would like to see the head of Apple make an affidavit setting out the technical difficulties which means Apple can’t put this on” their website, Jacob said. “I just can’t believe the instructions you’ve been given. This is Apple. They cannot put something on their website?”
Now, this definitely is exciting news, as many of us would love to see Apple truly apologize with their heart, and not just mock the law and the judges. We Android fans can only hope that this gets better and better!
