The US may have caused troubles for the company but Huawei continues to print out new smartphones from its factory. The latest additions are the Huawei Nova 5, Nova 5i and Nova 5 Pro. The Huawei Nova series had already adopted the hole-punch displays well before Samsung, and they continue the trend. We’ve got the Huawei Nova 5i wallpapers as well as the Nova 5 Pro wallpapers available for download.
Design
Nova 5i
For 2019, the design isnโt too bad. When most phones at this time have either big or small notches and a thick enough bottom chin, it’s one of the few that use a camera cutout instead. Like most cheaper phones, it is made of plastic which has been made to look like glass. Itโs of course not as scratch resistant as glass. The back of the phone also has a beautiful pattern that comes alive when light reflects off of it.
The quad camera array is horizontally aligned on the left along with an LED flash. The Huawei logo is plastered along the same side vertically in a very Huawei-esque fashion. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint reader near the center.
The left edge of the device has the Dual SIM tray with a hybrid MicroSD slot. On the right are the Power button and Volume rockers. On the bottom is a USB 2 .0 Type C charging port, and a speaker grill. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Nova 5 Pro
The Nova 5 Pro was launched alongside the Nova 5i. It sports a water-drop notch instead of the punch-hole display which may feel like a downgrade to some. The notch on the front does give off a modern look. But the hole-punch just looks more modern.
Instead of the plastic body that the Nova 5i has, this one has a glass back. It’s less prone to scratches but not as durable as plastic. Like the Nova 5i, a beautiful pattern shines when light hits it at certain angles.
The SIM tray is on the left which accepts two nano-SIMs or one nano-SIM and a nano-memory card. For those not in the loop, Nano-Memory is an expandable storage format developed by Huawei.
The Volume rockers are on the right with the Power button. The holes at the bottom include the USB 2.0 Type C port and the speaker grill. This one lacks the 3.5mm headphone jack.
On the back is a quad camera set up, placed similarly to the Huawei Nova 5i. There is no fingerprint reader as well. The fingerprint reader is hidden under the display.
Specs
The specs for both the smartphones are impressive for the price compared to other Chinese OEMs. Other than the names there really isn’t a lot of similarity between the two. They pack different processors, are offered in different RAM and storage variants, have different cameras, different battery capacities, etc. They do run the same software.
