Huawei isn’t quite known for budget-friendly smartphones. For that, the company has a separate sub-brand called Honor. When it comes to other devices such as laptops or tablets though, Huawei has proven time and again that a great device doesn’t have to cost a fortune. The Huawei Mediapad T5 is one such entry-level tablet with a metallic premium quality build and a full HD display. There is some plastic here and there but you still get enough quality considering the device sells for around 250 Euro. You can make the Huawei Mediapad T5 stock wallpapers your own for free though.
Huawei Mediapad T5 Design
The design of the Mediapad T5 is very similar to the Mediapad T3 with a metallic back. There is a plastic bar at the top for the antennas and the frame is made of half metal and half plastic. The tablet weighs around 460 grams and is 7.8 mm thick. It isn’t the thinnest and lightest but as we said, it only costs 250 Euro. The device feels premium enough for the price but it’s obviously not giving any competition to the iPad.
The Volume and power buttons are located on the right and two speakers at the bottom. The left side houses a micro USB port (not USB Type C), an external microSD card slot and a headphone jack. Huawei Mediapad T5 is available in black and champagne gold color options.
Huawei Mediapad T5 Specs
The device is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC which is what is used on something like the Huawei Mate 10 Lite, to give you an idea. It’s a decent mid-range processor and should handle most daily tasks nicely. It probably won’t handle heavy games like PUBG very well. Supporting the processors are 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32 GB of internal storage out of which usable storage is only 22GB. A 10.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and an aspect ratio of 16:10 at 224 pixels per inch hides all of that hardware underneath it.
The device has a 5 MP rear camera and a 2 MP pixel front facing camera. Tablet cameras are certainly not designed to be the best cameras. We don’t expect much from a $700 tablet in terms of camera performance so don’t expect a lot from these either. The battery packed in is slightly smaller compared to tablets at 5100mAh.
