As expected, Samsung’s competitors seem to be feeling a little restless with the launch of the Galaxy S3. Yesterday we saw LG’s spoofing Samsung “Be ready 4 the next Galaxy” banners at the New York’s Time Square, saying the “LG Optimus G is here 4 you now”. Later on, we heard Apple’s marketing chief Phil Schiller took a swipe at rival Samsung on Wednesday. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Schiller said phones (like those sold by Samsung) that use Android operating software aren’t as good as Apple phones:
Android is often given a free replacement for a feature phone and the experience isn’t as good as an iPhone. When you take an Android device out of the box, you have to sign up to nine accounts with different vendors to get the experience iOS comes with. They don’t work seamlessly together.
And today, the HTC social media team just took a nice beefy swing at Samsung. Through Twitter of all places, HTC called the Samsung Galaxy S4 “#theNextBigFlop” and compared it to their own flagship the HTC One. Moving a step further, the folks at HTC called Samsung’s Unpacking Event “off-Broadway”.
Still later today, HTC’s Chief Marketing Officer Ben Ho continued the sophomoric display of jealousy in a statement as follows:
With a continuation of a plastic body, and a larger screen being the most obvious physical change, Samsung’s new Galaxy pales in comparison to the all-aluminum unibody HTC One. This is more of the same. HTC remains the best option for those people looking for the best technology wrapped in premium design. Our customers want something different from the mainstream, who appear to be the target for the Galaxy. Our customers want original cutting-edge technology, mouth-watering design and a premium feel from their mobiles, which is why we created the HTC One.
Is HTC correct in saying that its latest flagship device is really better than the Galaxy S4? Let’s take a look at the features of both the phones.

This little comparison of specs definitely brings out the Galaxy S4 as a better phone. I do admit that HTC has done a good job giving HTC One a premium look and finish. The new Sense 5 UX seems to have a little edge over Samsung’s TouchWiz but beyond these things, the Galaxy S4 outshines the HTC One. It has a removable battery (one of the reasons for the use of plastic on the back) and expandable micro SD slot. The Samsung Galaxy S4, clearly beats the HTC One when it comes to processing power. Its weight is less than One and is slimmer too.
How does then HTC say that HTC One is better? Can’t you see the difference HTC?
