Good news for Galaxy Star owners. The latest build for the TWRP is available for this device and can be flashed easily using Odin. The Pro and Plus variants of the device are lucky enough to receive this build. Now, the device owners get the privilege to flash a custom ROM of their choice.
Although it is an initial release, the recovery buildย has all the features and functionalities fromย TWRP. The main feature of this TWRP is that it is built usingย the CM 11 source. Hence,ย it most likely supports all the CM 11 based ROMS or even above. The backup functionality may not work just yet. However, with further updates to the recovery, the bug will be fixed.
Moreover, using the latest TWRP build, you can root your stock ROM or flash any compatible custom and stock-based ROMS on your Galaxy device.
Here is a detailed tutorial that will install the latest TWRP recovery on your Samsung Galaxy Pro or Plus device. Before you proceed, make sure you are on the stock firmware. If not, then flash it using Odin before you follow this guide. So letโs begin.

Requirements
- Make sure you have the perfect device andย variant.ย This tutorialย is suitable only for Galaxy Star Pro or Plusย variants.
- You will require the stock firmware onย your device in order to flash the TWRP build listed below.
- Enable USB Debugging on your android phone.
- Make sure you have Samsung drivers installed on your PC.
- Download the 7zip software to extract the zip file to get the firmware file withย .tar.md5 extension.
- Make sure you have fully charged your Galaxy deviceย or at least up toย 60% of ย the battery.

Backup Your Apps and Data
It is recommended that you backup your apps, contacts, messages, photos, videos and any other important data stored on the internal storage of your phone. Get some of ourย useful backup appsย from the DroidViews archives. This will help you backup your device data easily. This process may not remove app and data, but it is highly recommended to backup everything before you proceed.
How to Install Latest TWRP on Galaxy Star Pro or Plus
- Download the TWRPย fileย for your Galaxy Star Pro or Plus. Ifย it is a zip file, extract it to get the recoveryย with .tarย extension.
- Now turn off your phone and boot it into the Download Mode.ย To do this,ย turn off your device and then press and hold Volume Down/Up + Home + Powerย buttons simultaneously for 2-3 seconds.ย When you see the warning screen with a yellow triangle sign, press the Volume Up/Down key to enter download mode or you can say Odin mode.
- Download the requiredย Odin.zip file and extract the file on your PC. You will get theย Odin_v3.09.exeย file.ย Open itย as administrator to get to theย Odin window. If the current version fails to install, try using an older version.
- Connect your Galaxy device to the computer using the USB cable.
- Whenย you connect the device, the ID: COM port on Odin will turn Blue.ย Youโll also seeโAdded!!โ message to indicate successful connection.
- If in case Odin doesnโt detect your phone, troubleshoot the following:
- Reboot your phone and turn off USB Debugging and turn it on again.
- Try reinstalling the Samsung USB Drivers.
- Try changing the USB cable and connecting to other ports.
- Now clickย APย buttonย on Odin andย add the firmware file (recovery.tar.md5) If you are using older Odin version, selectย PDA.
- In the Options section, tickย only the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes. (Do not, in any case, check Re-Partition box)
- Before you proceed toย firmware installation on Odin, make sure everything is set according to the screenshot.
- Now, click the Start button on Odin to begin with theย installation.
- Once you get aย PASS!ย message on Odin, your device will restart.ย Itโs the green signal that indicates a successful installation. In case you get a Fail! message, make sure youย go through all the procedure carefully and consider the requirements listed above.
- Now that you have successfully installed the custom recovery,ย you are ready to flash custom packages on your device and boot into it using the same button combinations as above.
Once into the custom recovery, it is recommended to backup your current ROM. If you come across any boot loops or face any system errors, you can try a factory reset from the TWRP or if you want to return to stock, re-flash the stock firmware completely.
