The Galaxy S3 is one of the most popular smartphones ever and is still Samsung’s best-seller. The device’s popularity and mass expanse has given rise to a plethora of work from our developers. If you have a Galaxy S3, there is no scarcity of custom ROMs and mods for you. The only requirement you need to fulfill is to root your phone and install a custom recovery on it.
Having a rooted Android phone opens the gates to the realm ofย customization. There are hundreds of custom ROMs out there for the Galaxy S3. While some are below average and some good, there are still a bunch of ROMs that can be regarded as indispensable and deserve to be installed as a daily driver.
If you are TouchWiz UX fan and like a ROM that does not take away any of the stock features, we have discovered another nice option for you. It is just like any other good ROM based on the stock Android 4.1.2 for the Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 but with a little difference that gives it a whole new look. Yes, theย Sone ROM lets you enjoy your favorite TouchWiz UX in a transparent way. Its developer,ย seatone, has stripped the stock TW userย interfaceย and as a result you can see your homescreen wallpaper or live wallpaper with its animations lurking beneath the settings, contacts, phone, music, my files. Even the popup windows and the multi-window tray has been modified to be transparent.
It really looks beautiful as you can relish new backgrounds on your phone, giving it a fresh look every time. Since most elements are transparent, it has significantly reduced the size of the graphics, making the Sone ROM the most light-weight TouchWiz based custom ROM. Another nice thing is that it contains only the essential apps by getting rid of all unwanted and unnecessary bloatware.
The way statusbar, Settings andย Notificationย panel have been themed further adds to the beauty of the Sone ROM. One more thing that makes this ROM my favorite, theย availabilityย of the new keyboard from the Sony Xperia Z. It’s definitely one of the best keyboard for Android smartphones.
While the Sone ROM has so many merits, it also has ย a little demerit. The most commonly visible bug is that it is a little laggy when you open an app for the first time. Theย batteryย performance on my Galaxy S3 was pretty nice and when we put it to AnTuTu benchmark test, it scored impressive marks. I have been using the Sone ROM as a daily driver for more than 10 days and it feels very stable. I recommend that you should give this ROM with naked beauty a try at least once.
Instructions:
Download the main ROM files and copy it to your phone’s internal or external SD card. If you want Galaxy S4 theme for apps like Music and AccuWeather, also download the mod file and copy it to your phone. When the ROM is installed, flash the mod zip after it. If you wish to install the missing Google apps on your Galaxy S3, you can download the desired the apk files from the provided link and install them manually. Here is the detailed tutorial to guide you ย install a custom ROM on your Galaxy S3.

Now I am unable to restore my stock rom.

Im Stucked At Reboot ! ๐
Pull out battery, reboot into recovery and wipe cache partition. Then reboot phone.
I’ve tried many custom roms but this one is great for me. Almost no lag-delay for an TW based rom. Thats impressive. Transparent look has sometimes cause hard to see texts but generally its good looking. Unfortunately my device’s antutu bencmark score is around 14000. I performed the benchmark just after fresh installation but the result was dissapointed to me.
If you are happy with performance, what difference does it make what stats say? The S3 with stock will score more but it performs terribly!
Thats true of course but its human nature… We need a numerical verification for satisfaction. ๐
Can you be more specific on what Gapps goes with tis rom please?
The ROM has all essential Google apps. As for GApps package, it is recommended you install the latest apps apk files from here: http://droidviews.com/2012/download-google-apps-gapps-for-your-android-device-on-gbicsjb/
The Gapps zip package is generally meant for AOSP, AOKP and CM based ROMs. If you think my collection does not have an app that you need, just let me know.
