LG G3 is one of the devices in the queue for the official Lollipop update and is expected to be updated by January 2015. The Korean LG G3 had already got the Lollipop update via OTA but the international LG G3 D855 users are still out of luck with no word from the manufacturer regarding the estimated time to the Lollipop release. However, we’ve seen few firmware leaks for the D855 last month just after the Android 5.0 is announced and now we got a custom ROM based on Android Lollipop.
LG G3 D855 users are blessed with the AndroidNow HD 5.0ย ROM byย S3V3Nย of XDA which is built on the V20C firmware. The ROM is based on theย LRX21R Lollipop build and is beefed up with many custom features. It’s a little surprising that the ROM is almost a daily driver while most ofย the Lollipop builds are in chaos with a lot of bugs and the best part is that the ROM comes pre-rooted.
The AndroidNow HD 5.0 ROM comes with the latest SuperSU app with material design makeover and the latest LG apps likeย LG calculator, LG Quick memo + and LG Radio FM.ย The developer mentions that the ROM is optimized for greater performance most of the bloatware was removed. Some of the Google apps are already included in the ROM, so you won’t need to flash the Gapps package separately.
The developer also included the LG G3 Snapdragon Audio+ย mod for the Google Music app which gives the users full control over the music quality. For those who want to stick to the LG Music app, theย Dolby Digital Plusย mod should suffice for the equalizer. You can get the sneak peek of these mods from the screenshots below:
Since it’s a long way to the official Lollipop release and things got a major changeover in Android 5.0, it’s a good idea to start with a ย few custom ROMs to adjust to the new interface. So grab the ROM file from below and flash it using a custom recovery.
If you’re not sure on how to flash the ROM, follow our installation guide from here.
