The HTC U Ultra has been in news for the last few weeks now. The phone was announced on January 12 and is expected to release in the second week of March.
The U Ultra a giant phone with a 5.7-inch QHD display (1440 x 2560 pixels) LCD with a secondary ticker, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 4 GB RAM, 64/128 GB ROM, microSD slot that supports up to 128 GB card, 12 MP primary and 16 MP front camera. However, you’ll be surprised to know that this giant is powered by just a 3000 mAh juicer. The device will reportedly be priced around $750 which sounds too high for the specs the U Ultra. The will come with Android 7.0 Nougat running out of the box and will be laced with Quick Charge 3.0 which is now becoming a common feature on smartphones.
With the U Ultra, HTC seems to have bidden goodbye to its trademark unibody aluminum design and opted for glass chassis like we now see on Samsung phones. Just a flying look at the U Ultra would make you believe that it’s a phone that doesn’t have the soul and spirit of the Taiwanese company. Whether it be the design, specifications, or the features, the phone doesn’t have anything that makes one say “wow”. HTC was once a premier smartphone maker, the OEM that made the very first of the Windows and Android phones. It has been one of most original smartphone brand but it seems like the days of its glory have gone. According to The Verge, the HTC U Ultra is no more than “a compendium of bad ideas”.
