Smartphone addiction is a real thing and, probably, the main reason for procrastination these days. Think about this – you have made up your mind to study for the upcoming test and just as you sit on your study table your phone lights up with a notification. You tell yourself you can take a break for two minutes and check that notification. Two minutes turned into half an hour and toy hasn’t studied a thing. The story of every student. After all, those fun websites or games or chat applications are much more tempting than behavioral economics or statistics.
Smartphones are considered a boon; something that makes a lot of complicated tasks easier. But, too much of a good thing can surely turn into a bad thing before you even realize. With so many apps available for smartphones, they have become the ultimate distraction device. Everywhere you look, the opportunities for procrastination are endless.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.
All you have to do is teach yourself not to get distracted, right? Well, not that easy. Trust me, ice tried. That’s why, eventually, you will have to take bigger steps. And, the best way to block out all options for distraction is to use an app. Ironic; using an app so that you don’t use other apps. Anyhow, let’s move forward and talk about this amazing app called Detox Procrastination Blocker that disables everything on your phone for a set period of time; making your phone totally useless.
Detox works as a timer lock to keep you from messing with your phone when you got work to do. Simply install the app from the Google Play Store. Once installed, open it. Upon opening the app, you will see a timer on the main page. Slide your fingers and you can set a specific time for which you want your device to be disabled. Once you have set the timer, tap on the lock icon just below the timer. The app will prompt a dialogue box asking you to confirm your action. Tap yes, and you will be locked out of your phone for set period of time. Once the time is over, it’ll notify you with a sound and your phone will become usable again.

The cool thing about Detox is that once your device is locked, it’s locked. Nothing can unlock it unless the time ends. Not even rebooting the device will help you. However, it does stop working with devices from certain OEMs who offer built-in task killers.
If you are worried that you’ll miss an important call when the device is locked, then you can make an In-App Purchase to unlock a feature that lets you receive calls even when the device is locked.
How do you curb your distractions? Do you use any apps for that? Which one? Tell us in the comments below.
