AT&T Galaxy S5 users are finally up for some treat with the latest OTA update notification ringing bells on the device this morning. But don’t get your expectations too high, chances are you will be a tad upset after seeing the update is for pushing your device to the Android 4.4.4 KitKat not the most anticipates Lollipop. The AT&T Galaxy S5 folks are very much on the shadow side in terms of the Lollipop update as Verizon had already started rolling the Lollipop updates for Galaxy S5 users recently.
Nonetheless, the latest brings some cool features to the AT&T Galaxy S5 users which might fill the void meanwhile. The update comes with the build number KTU84P.G900AUCU2AOA1 and brings your device to the Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Below are some of the important features included in the update:
- Android 4.4.4 KitKat
- Miscellaneous improvements, bug fixes, and security updates.
- HD Voice capability (VoLTE)
- AT&T Mail, AT&T Live, Uber, Remote Support.
If you had already observed, VoLTE is included in the update which might the major feature of the update. The Voice over LTE or the HD voice is one of the upcoming features in the 4G enabled circles. Unfortunately, AT&T says that the HD voice feature is limited to some select markets which implies both the users should be in the VoLTE supported region to enjoy this feature. However, you have to bear with some of the junk apps installed by AT&T like the AT&T Mail, AT&T Live, Uber, Remote Support.
The latest OTA update weighs at a beefy 487 MB, so be sure to use a WiFi connection before you pull the update. The update notification should have already hit your notification panel but if you’ve missed it, you can check the update from navigating to Settings → About device → Software Update → Check for Updates. Hit the agree and button and grab a coffee while the update is downloading.
Given that Verizon had already rolled out the Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 users, we expect a Lollipop build for the AT&T users shortly.
