Google launched the latest and sweetest version of Android yet, the Android Oreo 8.0 a few days back and ever since the web is filled with its updates. As of now, only the Google Pixel and the Nexus phones have received the update but it is soon expected to roll out to other Android devices in the coming months.
Even though the majority of Android devices have not yet received the Android Oreo update, developers are working hard to port the features and exclusive wallpapers and ringtones to other Android phones to give a feel of Android Oreo 8.0. On that note, a developer at Reddit has now released the port of the Pixel launcher from Android Oreo.
You can download the Pixel launcher and then install it from here. It does not require root to work and currently supports any Android phone running Android Marshmallow and above.
Features of Android Oreo Pixel Launcher
The Android Oreo’s pixel launcher’s overall layout is similar to that of Android Nougat. However, it comes with a few new features like Adaptable app badges, long pressing app icons to access shortcuts and notifications, Google search widget with data and weather and some other minor tweaks.

The Pixel launcher also automatically requests you to give access to notifications immediately after installation and it also comes with pull down gesture to access the quick settings in the home screen and pull up to access the app drawer.
The most useful feature in this Android Oreo Pixel Launcher is that you can access the notifications of the supported apps right from the app icon. Just long press the icon of the app in your home screen or app drawer to access and perform actions on the notifications.
For example, if you get any new email, you can long press on the Gmail icon from your home screen to reply, view or dismiss the notification instead of pulling down the notification drawer. Of course, if you clear the notification from the app icon, it will also be removed from the notifications shade.
The notification dot feature and the ability to change the shape of icons or using icon packs are not supported for most phones as of now. The developer might probably rectify this in the future updates of the Pixel Launcher of Android Oreo.

If you are interested in the development process, you can have a look at the source code from here. Make sure that before you download and install the latest Pixel launcher APK for Android Oreo, no other instance of it is running on your phone, because you might get an error if you try to replace it.
