A 7″ tablet for just $20? Believe it or not, it’s true. The Indian government yesterday showed the first glimpse of the second generation of the Aakash tablet called Aakash 2. Actually, this cheap tablet device bears the price tag of $40, but after being subsidized, it will be provided to Indian students just at $20 (INR 1, 132).
Aakash 2 tablet sports a 7-inch multi-touch display, 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, 512MB RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, 4GB storage, microSD card slot, USB port, and a 3,000 mAh battery. The specs are not bad for a tablet with such a low price. It will have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. Aakash 2 has been manufactured by the DataWind, a Canada-based company.
