Android 7.1 Nougat isn’t the only Google software that’s making the news this week. A new version of Google’s smartwatch operating system, Android Wear 2.0, will be made available in the near future. That time might come sooner than you think. With no prior heads up about this upcoming treat, Google has recently announced developers that a 2.0 version of Android Wear will pop up next month. Although there’s still a little way to go before February arrives, this will give developers the time they need to update the code in their apps and make sure that they are prepared for when Android Wear 2.0 does come out.
Not being able to comply with this adjustment will result in large drawbacks as there are new features coming in Android Wear 2.0 which developers have to be ready for. Specifically, Google talked at a 2016 developer conference about an upcoming feature which would allow the device to be used by itself. A standalone, self-operational device that wouldn’t rely on connecting through WiFi or Bluetooth to another smart device is without doubt a big step forward and Android 2.0 is what allows it to make that step.
Android Wear 2.0 was supposed to come out much sooner than February 2017, but Google decided it would be better to postpone the release so that the software could be better prepared and a far less amount of problems. Even though it’s a couple of months late, the next Android Wear firmware will surely positively impact the wearable gadget market.
There is also information about the next line of Google flagship smart watches. It looks like the next gadgets to come out after Android Wear 2.0 will indeed be considered flagship although they won’t sport any Google Pixel branding.
