App updates generally bring good changes, be it new features, new interface, bug fixes, or any other thing. Updates are meant to improve your overall experience. But what if you don’t like the latest update to your favorite app? What if in the latest update a feature that you have grown attached to is removed? DISASTER.
Take MX Player, for example, previously it supported all audio and video formats. But then, with new updates, it stopped supporting AC3 format, which is quite common in today’s videos, due to some legal issues. MX Player doesn’t support AC3 format now. Due to this reason, a lot of my friends haven’t upgraded the app and those who upgraded it have now downgraded. If you are feeling like downgrading or installing an older version of an app then you must know that it can’t be done by using the Google play store.
Here’s how to do so.
To install an older version of an app, you’ll need to use a website called APK Mirror. It is owned by Android Police and here they upload the latest APKs of all the apps as soon as possible. The team behind APK Mirror it’s quite fast in providing the latest APK.
APK Mirror hosts all the APKs of an app – both old and new. In fact, in the screenshot above you can see that they have an APK of Z Launcher from June. You can find the oldest APK there.
To install apps from APK Mirror, simply visit the website from a browser, search for the app, install the version that you want.
Before doing so, make sure that you have enabled “Unknown resources” in the settings menu. Go to Settings > Security > Unknown sources. Enable it and you are good to go.
You can be sure that all the APKs there are working, secure, and virus free. Below the download button of an app, you’ll see a statement that says “Safe to install”. This means that the APK you are about to download is safe and is signed by the official developer.
So, that is the easiest way to install an older version of your favorite app. Simply go the website and install the APK, easy.
