Recording what’s happening on your screen is fun. I used to do that a lot on my PC while playing FIFA. Android, too, is capable of recording screen. Just search for screen recording apps on the Google play store and you’ll find dozens of apps. However, most of these apps require root access.
If you have a rooted device then you can use any app to record your screen. But you can also record your screen even if your device is not rooted. Given, you are running Android 5.0 or higher.
Why To Record Screen?
You may need to record your screen if you want to tell someone how to fix a particular problem, or to record your activity, or to make a tutorial or demonstration video. It’s fun.
Apps To Record Screen Without Root
1. AZ Screen Recorder
[googleplay url=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hecorat.screenrecorder.free&hl=en”/]First up, my favourite, AZ Screen Recorder. It is specifically designed for Android Lollipop and doesn’t require root access to work. It is one of the most feature packed screen recorders. Some of the features include HD recording, video resolution selection, a magic button that eliminates unnecessary stuff and solely focus on what’s important, simultaneous recording via front camera, draw on the screen, trimming unnecessary parts from the video, countdown timer, etc.. It’s also ad-free and doesn’t put any watermark on videos.
2. ADV Screen Recorder
[googleplay url=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blogspot.byterevapps.lollipopscreenrecorder&hl=en”/]I think ADV is the highest rated screen recording app in Google play store. At the time of writing, it has an awesome rating of 4.5. Like other apps in the list, it also works on single tap and captures screen in HD. Its feature set includes advanced recording engine, trimming the video, pausing screen recording, adding customized texts and banners, using both front and rear camera while recording screen, and few more.
3. ExplainIT
[googleplay url=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.solutioncone.ExplainIT&hl=en”/]ExplainIT is quite new and a bit different from other screen recording apps in the list. It works like a whiteboard, you can write on the screen using your finger. Various colours are available along with an eraser and all other necessary stuff. You can also record your voice while writing on the screen. ExplainIT can come useful in situations where you need to explain something to someone.
4. iLos Screen Recorder
[googleplay url=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icos.ilos.uploader&hl=en”/]iLos screen recorder is specifically designed for Android 5.0 and above i.e. Android Lollipop is the minimum requirement to use this app. It is somewhat similar to AZ Screen Recorder as both have a lot of similar features. But if you go for the paid version, you can take advantage of iLos ecosystem which includes screen recorder for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
So, those are some of the apps for recording screen on Android that we found. But maybe we missed something. Tells us what app do you use to record screen in the comments section below!
