After a long summer of being handed down various ‘Developer Previews’ for all the recent Nexus devices following the launch of the next iteration of the Android operating system 6.0 MarshMallow, we finally see the official fully built and stable factory images now available for the Nexus devices.
Owners of the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9 and Nexus Player can now download and install Android 6.0 on their devices.
The latest generation of Android will follow along nicely with the sweet-flavored names of the past, this time dubbed Marshmallow. There’s still plenty to uncover inside Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but we do know this version promises to follow in the Material Design footsteps created by its predecessor and focus on even greater polish and fluidity
Android 6.0 Marshmallow’s biggest features are small things people will appreciate every day, like individual app permissions, native support for fingerprint sensors, and granular context features for Google Now. We’re also going to see developers do more with Chrome, better app-to-app communication, and new power management features.
Factory images for a Nexus phone are particularly useful if you have used the Android Open-Source Project, flashed custom builds on your device, and wish to return that device to its factory state. These files are for use only on your personal Nexus devices and may not be disassembled, decompiled, reverse engineered, modified or redistributed by you or used in any way except as specifically set forth in the license terms that came with your device.

To install them follow the same guide for Installing Android M Developer Preview on Nexus 5, 6, 9 and Player.
Unfortunately the Nexus 4, 10 and 1st generation Nexus 7 miss out on these updates, for them the 5.1.1 Lollipop update was the last. Similar to what had been done to the Galaxy Nexus during the 5.0 Lollipop launch. But be sure that a few custom developers out there would be on duty right as we speak to get the newest features for all phones out there.
