Most Android users mainly root their devices only to install Xposed Framework. Xposed Framework is a powerful tool that enables you to modify your ROM as you wish using some tweaks. Xposed Framework can be installed not only on Custom ROMS but also on the Stock ROMS. So using Xposed you can add some tweaks to your Stock ROM or firmware and get the features of a custom ROM and all this can be achieved just by rooting and installing Xposed Framework. There are numerous features and modules available in Xposed that make it a powerful tool not only for users but also for developers.
There is an official and stable Xposed Framework installer released for Android Jelly Bean and KitKat whereas for Lollipop it is not an official or a stable release. Although it has been long since the Lollipop release, the Xposed for it is still in its beta stage due to a lot of changes in the ART Runtime libraries in Lollipop as compared to its previous versions.
Xposed Framework on Lollipop needs to be installed manually through a Custom Recovery unlike in Jelly Bean and KitKat where the Xposed installer apk file would install the framework on your system automatically. So uninstalling Xposed Framework on Lollipop would require you to flash an Xposed Uninstaller Script using a Custom Recovery like TWRP or CWM.
However, installing Xposed Framework may sometimes get your device into boot loop -that is, it may not boot the system properly or may not boot at all and it will be stuck at the boot animation. If this has happened to you then you need not worry. There are ways you can uninstall the Xposed Framework from your system.
The first way is to install an update to your system if you are on any CyanogenMod based ROM. For instance, if you have Resurrection Remix ROM which is a CM 12.1 based ROM then flashing the same update or a newer update over the ROM using a Custom Recovery would remove Xposed Framework. However, if you are on Stock ROM, then you need to flash an Xposed Uninstaller Script over your system or ROM using a Custom Recovery.
Take note that, Xposed Uninstaller is different for different devices like arm, arm64, x86. Find the uninstaller Script for your device in the Downloads Section. Also, Uninstaller Scripts are different for Android version 5.0(SDK 21) and 5.1(SDK 22).
