What’s the thing that you do the most in your phone? Listening music? Na. Taking photos? Na. The thing which you do the most is to lock and unlock your phone by using the tiny lock button. Now, if you press a button a lot (which you do) there are chances that it might get damaged. It is also possible that the lock button in your phone is hard to reach. That’s bad.
What if your phone knows by itself when to on the screen and when to off it? Your phone is in your pocket; screen is off, you pull it out; screen turns on. Your phone is resting on a table; screen is off, you pick it up; screen turns on. This can be done by using the app called Gravity Screen. Amazing!
To make this happen the app uses various sensors (like gravity sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, compass, etc) found in phones. These sensors are used to know whether your phone is in motion or not.
Features:
1. Pocket Sensor:
This feature makes sure that the screen gets off as soon as you put your phone in your pocket. To make that happen, Gravity Screen uses proximity sensor. Once it realizes that the proximity sensor of covered and phone is in a certain angle, it assumes that the phone is in your pocket and immediately shuts off the screen. And when you pull out your phone from the pocket and the proximity sensor is uncovered, it turns the screen back on.
2. Table Sensor:
If table sensor is switched on, Gravity Screen will turn the screen off when it realizes that the phone is lying on a flat surface. You can decide whether you want it to turn off when itโs lying face up, or only when itโs face down.
3. Waking the Screen:
To turn the screen on, Gravity Screen uses motion sensor. If the screen is off, it can be turned on by any movement, like lifting the phone up by hand. The app lets you set a timeout for this behavior, so that after a few minutes with no motion, the phone really does go to sleep.
Another way to turn the screen on is by using the proximity sensor. If your screen is off and the phone detects anything moving next to it, it’ll switch the screen on.
4. Keeping the Screen on:
To keep the screen on, Gravity Screen relies on motion sensor. It does so by analyzing the small movements you do by your hand while holding the phone. If small motions are detected while the screen is facing up Gravity Screen keeps the screen on as it assumes that the phone is held and probably you are reading something.
