It has been almost 10 months now when Jcase first released hisย WeakSauce root exploit for the Verizon variants of the HTC One M7 and M8 back in March.ย WeakSauceย proved to be a blessing for the users of these devices as it allowed them to gain root their phone without having to unlock the bootloader or gaining S-OFF. As it happens in most cases, the older root exploit was later patched by Verizon and HTC through software updates.
If you own theย Verizon HTC One M8, One M7, Droid DNA or some other HTC phone running Android 4.4.4 KitKat and are having a hard time gaining root access on your device, it’s time to revel. Yes, Jcase has just released a new avatar of the old exploit called WeakSauce 2: The Habanero’s Revengeย which can easily root almost any HTC phone running Android 4.4.4.
Just like its older version,ย WeakSauce 2 comes as an app and very easy to use. All you are need to do is to download the latest version of the app, install it on your phone and run it to gain root access.ย WeakSauce 2 doesn’t demand an unlocked bootloader but it comes with a few limitations. It’s a kind of temporary root access because the app will re-root your device after each reboot. The process takes placeย automatically as you need not runย WeakSauce 2 again and again. Besides, having rooted your devices usingย WeakSauce 2, you might get “SU binaries are out of date” issue. The good thing, however, is that it will affect the root functionality and it means that it’s not a matter of worry.
Also, if you love running your phone in ART runtime mode, you might get issues asย WeakSauce 2 does not support ART yet. Maybe the issue is fixed by the developer in the upcoming releases. To go happily withย WeakSauce 2, you must enable Dalvik mode from Settings> Developer options.
