What was just a rumor just two days ago has finally turned into a reality after Samsung’s official confirmation that the company will be unveiling the smaller avatar of it flagship Samsung Galaxy S3 tomorrow. It is the same device that was code-named “Golden GT-i8190″ in the UAPROF published a few days ago. The Korean company seems to have made its mind to pose a direct challenge to the iPhone 5 (which also gas a 4” screen) by launching the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini. How fruitful this attempt proves will only be revealed by time.
JK Shin, the head of Samsung Mobile Communications, said, “GALAXY S III mini will come with 4″ display and we are going to unveil the product tomorrow (Oct 11).”
According to a report by Reuters, the Galaxy S3 Mini will be launched first in Europe. “We think there’s strong demand for 4-inch screen models in Europe,” the UK-based news agency cites a Samsung spokeswoman. The report, however does not clarify when it will arrive the other continents.
The device is reported to sport a 4 inch Super AMOLED display (480×800 px), a 5 megapixel rear camera, a dual-core STE U8420 1 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, and Jelly Bean-flavored TouchWiz. All these specs point to a mid-end device rather than a flagship. Having setting new sales records with its Galaxy S3, Samsung will try ensure a wider reach of the device by targeting people with smaller hands and, of course, slimmer wallet with this cheaper phone. Here is a picture claimed to the first image of the Galaxy S3 Mini (?).
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is speculated to be priced at 399 Euros ($510). Just wait for a day till all clouds of doubt are cleared away after the launch of the device tomorrow.
