Update Nexus 7 LTE to KitKat 4.4.3 Manually (KTU84L)

Nexus 7 is Google’s most successful tablet innovation which on a huge scale took over the tablet world. Offering a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz Krait CPU, Adreno 320 graphics unit, and a 7 inches high-res gorilla glass display, the beast has always been ready for the latest firmware support.

Unfortunately, the device that has felt a little left out since the KitKat update scene fastened up, is the Nexus 7 2013 LTE variant. This device has been quite unhappy of the injustice that happened to it, and while his fellow cousins were being updated, he was left alone in the dark. Guess Google just didn’t make up for it, yet and now the update is live for this little brother too. The update started to roll out universally somewhere between the last two days, the factory images for the same have already been updated and finally, the Over-The-Air update package is here in hands and ready to be flashed. Today, we will essentially guide you to update Nexus 7 LTE to KitKat 4.4.3 by manually installing the update.

In this case, two OTA files have been uploaded, one for the normal users and the other one for the Verizon SIM users. So choose as per your requirement.

Early Requirements

» Install USB drivers: Click here

» Charge your Nexus 7 to at least 60% battery level

» Backup your tab’s storage, SMS, contacts, etc.

» Install Android SDK: Click here

» Stock 4.4.2 build Installed and un-rooted.

Instructions to update Nexus 7 LTE to KitKat 4.4.3

1. Download the OTA update package.
   • For most users: cac1a204d3770a20fdce28f6ed3418fdd36abd5d.signed-razorg-KTU84L-from-KOT49H.cac1a204.zip
   • For Verizon SIM users: f0c2187ff1dba772cff3fa7f99f0e6bd38ecb62b.signed-razorg-KTU84L-from-KVT49L.f0c2187f.zip
2. Open the folder where the OTA zip has been downloaded to. Press SHIFT key and Right-click on an empty space inside the folder. Select Open command window here from the pop-up menu that appears. 
3. Time to boot the Nexus 7 to stock recovery mode, type the following command into the CMD window.

   adb reboot recovery

   Note: Do not close the CMD window yet.

4. The device will reboot and display an black warning screen with the Android bot in the middle. Press the Volume Up and Power buttons for a few seconds until you see the screen flashing and then release the keys. This may take a few tries, if you’re a first timer.
5. The device will then enter the stock recovery mode, displaying Android system recovery <3e> text on the top of the screen.
6. Connect your Nexus 7 to the PC via USB cable.
7. Use the Volume keys to scroll and highlight apply update from ADB and select it using the Power button.
8. Enter the following command if you have downloaded the normal OTA zip file:

   adb sideload cac1a204d3770a20fdce28f6ed3418fdd36abd5d.signed-razorg-KTU84L-from-KOT49H.cac1a204.zip

9. Enter the following command if you have downloaded the Verizon users OTA zip file:

   adb sideload f0c2187ff1dba772cff3fa7f99f0e6bd38ecb62b.signed-razorg-KTU84L-from-KVT49L.f0c2187f.zip

10. The CMD window will show the transfer progress and the else could be seen on the tab’s screen.
11. Just as the process completes, select reboot system now using the Power button.
