It has been quite a long time since the release of Jelly Bean version of Android OS but it has not yet made its way to great number of devices. According to the latest official stats, Gingerbread was on the top of the platform versions distribution chart till July 8, 2013 and Jelly Bean has now reached to 37.9% of Android devices. You will be surprised to know that only 5.6%ย devices have been lucky enough to get Android 4.2 while rest of them (32.3%) are still stuck to Android 4.1.
While Google has always been fair enough in sending the latest updates to all its Nexus devices, it is unfortunate that all other major players like Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG, Motorola, etc. have not been generous to old customers. At a time when the web is full of gossips and excitement about the release of Android 4.3, we just wonder when it will come to non-Nexus devices! Here is the Android platform versions distribution official stats.
Android 4.2 was a major update to the Android OS that brought some really cool features like Multi-user, Photosphere camera and Daydream. Our device manufactures might turn a deaf ear to the demand of their users but thanks to the Open Source nature of Android and the hard work of our developers who leave no stone unturned when it comes to extending latest version of Android and its popular features even to downtrodden devices with their custom ROMs, mods, ports and even apps.

As we mentioned above Daydream is one of the major features that came with Android 4.2 that onlyย ย 5.6% devices have. If you do not know, Daydream is a kind ofย pseudo-screensaver for mobile device displays certain items like digital and analog clock, colors, photo frame, photo table, news feeds and, if supported by a third pay app, weather conditions too after some period of inactivity.
The app we are going to talk about today is aptly called Daydream and it allows you to enjoy Daydream like time screensaver on your Android device whether it has Froyo, Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean itself.
The features this app offers might not be as versatile as the original Daydream but it is still a good compensation for those who are not lucky enough to have Android 4.2.ย It shows the current date and time, which are displayed with more than 20 randomized movements. The app has a hmle set of options for personalization that allow you configure things like turning the app On or Off, setting date format and custom message to be displayed and also when the app should run.
The app is still in beta and we look forward to more features being added as new updates come. Till then enjoy what it offers and share your thoughts with us!
