The Redmi 7A is the successor to last year’s Redmi 6A. It’s a significant upgrade with better performance, a bigger battery, better display, and a more beautiful design.

Design

The front of the phone has only the screen with a top and bottom bezel housing the Redmi logo, the earpiece, and the selfie camera. There’s no notch but since it isn’t a full-screen design, the device already looks dated. The back of the device has a single camera but the module also houses the selfie flash and is designed to look like a dual camera setup.

The Redmi logo is vertically aligned along the right edge under the camera setup. The rest of the back is empty and there’s no fingerprint sensor. There is a headphone jack though and a micro USB charging port.

Redmi 7A Specification

The Redmi 7A has a dual nano-SIM slot where both support 4G VoLTE. It ships with Bluetooth 5.0. The display on the front is 5.45-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The Redmi 7A stock wallpapers, however, are in Full HD resolution. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC. The device is available in two memory and storage configurations. There’s either 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of onboard storage or 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The storage can be expanded with a micro-SD card up to 256 GB.

The highlight of this super-budget smartphone is the 4,000 mAh battery. It supports 10W fast charging which is something you don’t normally get in this price range.

Camera

On the rear, the Redmi 7A has a 13 MP camera sensor. And on the front, there’s a 5 MP camera sensor. The front camera comes with an AI beauty mode. Since the phone doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor it uses the front camera for AI Face unlock. It’s not as secure as that of the iPhone but it is fast enough.
