Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi A2, the successor to the company’s successful Mi A1 of last year.
Popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi unveiled the Mi A2 a few days ago. The Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphone features a 5.99n Full HD+ 18:9 IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 X 2160px.The Xiaomi Mi A2 is powered by a capable mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with an Adreno 512 GPU along with 4 GB of RAM on 32 GB and 64 GB variants and 6 GB of RAM on only the 128 GB variant. Unfortunately, a MicroSD card slot is not present in the Mi A2 for expandable storage. As usual, a fingerprint scanner is onboard the Mi A2 coupled with Xiaomi’s AI-aided face unlock for biometric authentication.
Photography is handled by a dual camera setup at the rear featuring a 20MP + 12MP sensors both having an aperture of f/1.75. Speaking of which, the secondary sensor doesn’t feature a telephoto lens, instead, you only have the option to switch between to either sensor as you see fit. The two cameras are assisted by dual LED flash. Up front the Xiaomi Mi A2 again features a 20MP selfie camera employing special AI-powered effects and HDR. The front camera is assisted by a single LED flash for the selfieholics.
A decent enough 3000 mAh battery is onboard the Xiaomi Mi A2 to keep the lights on. Speaking of which, the device comes equipped with a 10W charger and charging is done via the USB-C port to top it up fast in the morning, thanks to Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0 technology. Speaking of which, interestingly, India bound Xiaomi Mi A2 comes equipped with Qualcomm Quick charge 4.0 technology for even faster battery charging speeds. Coming to the connectivity side of the Xiaomi Mi A2, it has you all covered with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE with A2DP, GPS and more. Sadly and unfortunately, the Mi A2 abandons the good old headphone jack we all love. The Mi A2 runs on Stock and pure Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box as the device is AndroidOne program certified meaning it runs on unmodified, bloatware-free, clean and googleicious Android from day one.
Pricing, color options and availability
As for pricing, in Spain, the 4/32 GB, 4/64 GB and the 6/128 GB variants of the Xiaomi Mi A2 costs €250, €280, €350 respectively. The Mi A2 will be available in Blue, Black, Gold and Rose Gold paint jobs and will launch on July 27, August 8, August 10 in France, Italy and Spain respectively. Worldwide availability is confirmed meaning the Xiaomi Mi A2 will launch in the Middle East and Africa, Europe, and the Asia Pacific sooner than later.
Design: I just don’t understand why are most of the OEMs impersonating the Apple iPhone X?
Design wise, up front the Xiaomi Mi A2 looks pretty much like any modern smartphone with an 18:9 screen. However, flip the Mi A2 and there you have it, as in there is no denying the fact that Xiaomi was only and only inspired by the “FruitPhone X” with the dead ringer being that vertical rear camera module design. Why have OEMs become so low on creativity when it comes to design and aesthetics
