July 2018 security patch is now rolling out for the Galaxy J8
Samsung has begun rolling out the 2018 July security patch for the recently released Galaxy J8. This is the first ever software update for the Galaxy J8 since its release. The update is currently rolling out in Brazil and Columbia.ย As expected, this update bumps up the security patch to the month of July which contains important security fixes and enhancements. Don’tย expect any new orย groundbreakingย features with this update.
Do you own a brand new Galaxy J8 and so want to stay updated with the latest security enhancements and fixes? Alright, then head over to Settings > Software update > Downloadย updates manually to check for updates. Again, the update is currently only available in Brazil and Columbia as per a report from SamMobile. In case your region did not receive the update, fret not, Samsung will gradually release the updates to more countries over time. Rest assured!
Korean tech giant Samsung unveiledย a new member in their entry-level J series lineup of smartphones, the Galaxy J8. The new J8 duo features a SuperAMOLED Infinity display keeping up with the 2018 trend of 18:9 screen aspect ratio. The Galaxy J8 features a 6.0 HD+ display with 720 x 1480 resolution, an entry level 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-core processor aided by 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage with a dedicated MicroSD card slot onboard that can handle cardsย up toย 256 GBย for storage expansion. Keeping the lights on is a 3500mAh battery.
Photography is handled by a dual camera setup featuring a 16MP (f/1.7) + 5MP (f/1.9)ย shooter at the rear. Selfies are handled by a 16MP (f/1.9) unit. Both front and rear cameras feature a single LED flash.
Coming to the connectivity side of the Samsung Galaxy J8, it has you all covered with WI-FI 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE with A2DP, GPS and more. Thankfully, the Galaxy J8 retains the good old headphone jack we all love.ย A fingerprint scanner and face unlock are available as biometric authentication options. The Galaxy J8 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo-based Samsung Experienceย UI out of the box.
