Install TWRP Recovery 2.4 on All Nexus Devices

Haven’t been even a week since TWRP was given a huge update from 2.3 to 2.4. It certainly made a big leap, while it brought some interesting changes. For the same, we’ve already covered up a guide on How to Install TWRP 2.4 on Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 and I9305.

Later, the earlier  day, TeamWin updated its TWRP again, now to v2.4.1.0. The latest build brings up a few additional bug fixes to the 2.4.0.0 release. So, here are the changes that comes up:

• Fixed a problem with mkdosfs that formatted sdcards to 2GB
• Fixed hand off between vfat and exFAT on devices where blkid didn’t detect vfat (fixes some issues with mounting sdcards)
• Fixed problems with changing working directory on MD5 creation/checking that may have prevented unmounting
• Backups will now store a copy of the backup log after the backup is completed (only if backup is successful)

These’re much of crucial changes which are definitely essential for a user. So, consider updating as early as possible.

Now, we’re beginning to Instruct you on how to Install this latest TWRP release on your Nexus device- Nexus One, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10.

Prerequisites

• A USB data cable with proper USB drivers.  [Download here]
• Make sure that the battery level is above 60% to avoid any uncertain shutdowns.
• Support tools to flash recovery [Support_files.zip: Download here]
• Extract the downloaded Support_files.zip to the desktop, now you shall have a folder named “Support_files” containing all the required files.

IMPORTANT NOTE!: Make sure to replace x.x with the version number respective of your device at every placed required during the guide.

Install TWRP 2.4.x.x on Nexus One (passion)

1. Download the Recovery image file [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-passion.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Trackball button and the Power button until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

   fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-passion.img

8. You’re done!

Install TWRP 2.4.x.x on Nexus S (crespo)

1. Download the recovery image for Nexus S [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-crespo.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Volume Up and the Power buttons until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

   fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-crespo.img

8. You’re done!

Install TWRP 2.4.x.x on Nexus S 4G (crespo4g)

1. Download the recovery image for Nexus S 4G [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-crespo4g.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Volume Up and the Power buttons until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

   fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-crespo4g.img

8. You’re done!

Install TWRP 2.4.x.x on GSM Galaxy Nexus (maguro)

1. Download the recovery image for GSM Galaxy Nexus [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-maguro.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Volume Up, Volume Down and the Power buttons until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

   fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-maguro.img

8. You’re done!

Install TWRP 2.4.1.0 on Sprint Galaxy Nexus (toroplus)

1. Download the recovery image for Sprint Galaxy Nexus [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-toroplus.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Volume Up, Volume Down and the Power buttons until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

   fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-toroplus.img

8. You’re done!

Install TWRP 2.4.x.x on Verizon Galaxy Nexus (toro)

1. Download the recovery image for Verizon Galaxy Nexus [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-toro.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Volume Up, Volume Down and the Power buttons until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

Install TWRP 2.4.x.x on Nexus 4 (mako)

1. Download the recovery image for  Nexus 4 [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-mako.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Volume Down and the Power buttons until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

Install TWRP 2.4.x.x on Nexus 7 (grouper)

1. Download the recovery image for  Nexus 7 [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-grouper.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Volume Down and the Power buttons until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

   fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-grouper.img

8. You’re done!

Install TWRP 2.4.x.x on Nexus 7 3G (tilapia)

1. Download the recovery image for  Nexus 7 3G [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-tilapia.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Volume Down and the Power buttons until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

   fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-tilapia.img

8. You’re done!

Install TWRP 2.4.x.x on Nexus 10 (manta)

1. Download the recovery image for  Nexus 10 [openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-manta.img: Download here]
2. Drag the downloaded .img file to the Support_files folder on your desktop.
3. Press Shift key and right click on an empty space within the same folder, the menu shall pop-up.
4. Now select Open Command prompt here. The CMD window shall open in the same location.
5. Power off your device. Hold the Volume Down and the Power buttons until you see the Bootloader screen.
6. Connect the device via USB cable while in Bootloader mode.
7. Type in:

   fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.x.x-manta.img

8. You’re done!
