It was a sad day for Android users when (in June 2012) Adobe decided to withdraw official support from one of the essential apps for enhanced web browsing experience. The Adobe Flash Player app can no longer be downloaded from the Google Play Store. It does not sound good at all that the largest and most popular operating system for mobile phones does not have the official version of Adobe Flash Player.

Though the Flash Player is not available at the Google Play Store, it does not mean that you are forced to be deprived of a richer web browsing experience. You can still download and install the Adobe Flash Player for your Android phone. Having downloaded the Adobe Flash Player apk file, you will have to install it manually. Here is how you can install the this or any APK file on your Android phone or tablet.
- Download the app from above link and copy it to your phone’s internal or external SD Card memory. You can do it by connecting your device to computer via USB Cable. In case you have downloaded the file using phone browser, you can find the APK inside “Downloads” folder.
- Go to your phone’s Settings> Security and enable the “Unknown Sources” option by checking the box. If you do not ckeck it before installation, you will have to do it when prompted while installing the app.
- Now open the file manager app on your phone. If you do not a file browser app installed on your phone, download one from the Google Play Store. Opening the file manager, find the Flash Player apk file.
- The Flash Player for Android is now installed on your phone. You should now be ready to go. Check this link on your phone to confirm that Flash is up and running.
- To enable Flash content all the time, open your web browser’s settings and select “Always on”, or to enable it selectively on each page, choose “On demand”.
Note (for ICS and JB):
The Chrome browser for Android does not support Adobe Flash Player. Also, since the Flash Player does not officially support Android 4.1 and higher, do not expect very fast loading of Flash objects. To enjoy flash in internet browsing on your Android device, install Dolphin Browser that supports flash.

The latest version of Firefox Browser for Android (v.27 onwards) has brought Flash Player support feature back. The browser now supports Flash Player as a plugin. Here is how you can use Adobe Flash on your Android device:

- Download and install the latest hacked Adobe Flash Player app from above.
- Open Firefox Browser on your device.
- Go to Settings> Display, tap on Plugins and enable it.
- In case you are unable to view flash content on some site, try to enable Request Desktop Site from Firefox Browser menu.

If Flash came pre-installed on your device leave it alone and do not try to update it manually. Updating flash requires removing the old version first and this cannot be done unless your device is rooted because Flash is a system application. I accidentally installed a newer version of Flash over the original 10.2 version which made it unusable. I then tried several different methods to root my device so I could remove Flash but was unable to do so. I ended up resetting my device to factory default. Since all versions of android Flash Player are outdated it’s best to just leave it alone unless your device is rooted and you just want to remove it for security reasons.
