If we believe the reports coming from CNet, Google and LG might unveil the next Nexus phone at the end of this month. While we do not have a real picture or even the name of the device to give us an idea what it will look like, the rumor has it that the “LG Nexus” will more or less be a modified version of the LG Optimus G. If you have been curious about the next Nexus phone, it’ll be unveiled soon by Google.
A person (not a Google employee) has claimed that the new Nexus phones were handed out last week for testing. Here is what he said:
โI can confirm the next nexus is LG Optimus based. The phone looks surprisingly like the Galaxy Nexus and does not have sharp corners like the LG Optimus we already know. It has a silverโring like the iPhone 3G around the outer edge of the screen which seemed to be similar to the Galaxy Nexus in size but was much better in brightness.
I couldnโt have said if it was larger in the few minutes that I had the phone. Also, it has Nexus written on the back like the Nexus 7 except there is a color element to it. The โXโ is in four colors. There was also the LG logo on the back.
Android 4.2 in its current state looked exactly like the 4.1.1 we love. There were no tabs on that build version for home-screens as you suggested from your other tipster. What I was amazed by is how fluid everything seemed to be from existing apps, switching, etc. It seems like theyโve increased the number of transitions and their types. It still had the hodge-podge mess of multiple communication tools: Messenger, GTalk, Voice, and SMS.โ
According to Paul O’Brien from Modaco, the LG Nexus device will sports an IPS display running at 1280ร768, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM, support for wireless charging, and an 8-megapixel camera.
Whatever the specs maybe, if the news is true, it might prove to be boon for the Korean manufacturer who is still struggling to find a respectable and profitable place in the US smartphone market and the world market at large.
